I've owned Merieke Ri Berit for 25 years and never used her. Ever. She was probably in the first box of second hand cards I ever bought to get started playing with back in high school.

Imagine my surprise when looking for a new commander that is already full of tap/untap shenanigans this old neglected card I've had forever kept popping up.

Different kinds of control, but not much in the way of counterspells. I prefer to play cards rather than stop others from doing so. Card advantage, commander protection, removal, bounce,and as much tap/untap utilities as I can find.

Take and destroy everything I can with Merieke, ping the rest to death with Tim and his kin.

Make the pingers more versatile or potent with upgrades such as: Aspect of Gorgon,

Worth mentioning Spectral Shield was probably in that first pile of second hand cards too and hasn't really ever been played either. Figured it's a good way to protect MRB. Call it a pet card.
