Leodân is a 40 card magic variant inspired by Nick Floyd's Forgetful Fish. The deck gets its name from its main creature Leonin Snarecaster and from Forgetful Fish's main creature, Dandan. This deck was made entirely with cards I already owned. Because of this the deck is not as fine-tuned as Forgetful Fish, so feel free to make edits as you see fit.

Rules - You play the game the exact same as a regular game of magic except for these changes:

  • Both players share the same deck and graveyard.
  • Both players start the game with 6 life.
  • Free mulligan if you have less than 2 lands in your starting hand.

General Strategy - You start with 6 life so you can (generally) take 3 hits until you die (Impostor of the Sixth Pride and Compulsory Rest can change this). Cards like Winds of Rebuke, Glacial Grasp, and Leonin Snarecaster's ability can help you manage your opponents creatures and get in damage. Mill is a large component of the deck with cards like Sweet Oblivion and Chronic Flooding, while the deck's artifacts, Cranial Archive and Wand of Vertebrae can protect you from decking out. The deck also makes use of the graveyard with Glimpse of Freedom and the Said part of Said / Done. The Scry ability allows you to set up your opponent's draws. Additionally, there is a bit of added strategy of which turns you want to play taplands and which turns you want to play basic lands.

Notes - Grip of the Roil: Though you are playing the same deck, you and your opponent are not teammates.
