First of all, this deck is S L O W. It is designed to grind out wins like nothing else. It has gone through a lot of changes since I first sleeved it up. I've moved away from the Planeswalker focus it originally had. Now it's just pure, undiluted Stax.

I'm unsure about the cards in the Maybeboard. The Abyss is obviously great, but I'm not convinced it's better than any other engine already in the deck. Tainted AEther is a card I have had in the Maybeboard since I first constructed the list. It has anti-synergy with any deck that aims to create tokens, so it's awkward. The reason why it remains on the list is its interaction with Living Plane.

Living Plane and Purphoros, God of the Forge are cards that I would really love to get involved. It's such a great engine on its own and allows me to start picking off lands as easily as I do creatures. Living Plane and Tainted AEther are a little awkward for me, but extremely awkward for everyone else. Having such an efficient curve as this one, it can really mess with people as well as shut down ramp strategies.

The cards that are on the chopping block as of now are Liliana of the Veil, Destructive Flow, and Sorin Markov. Liliana is not really the best option as far as hand disruption goes and this deck has no need for another Edict effect. Destructive Flow is a bit of a pet card of mine. It's potentially good, but extremely slow. Sorin Markov is very powerful and explosive, but lacks any real synergy and is pretty awkward to cast due to his high CMC and stringent color commitment.
