I've been a collector since 2008 and an on-again-off-again player for just over ten years. I don't remember how or why I first started collecting; it's not like I knew how to play. Chances are that I saw the packs near the Yu-Gi-Oh cards and decided they looked interesting. Sure enough, it didn't take long for me to completely switch over to MTG. Once I got into it I managed to convince several of my friends to start playing and the rest is history.

My first pre-constructed deck was "Unraveling Mind" from the Planar Chaos set. To this day, Whitemane Lion and Mirri the Cursed always find their way into one of my decks.

Most of my decks focus on token creation and control. My absolute favorite deck is a Saproling deck I built around Slimefoot, the Stowaway. Building that deck made me realize my preferred playstyle, which I had not been adhering to AT ALL until recently. Now, I'm working on expanding my horizons. Dinos are a lot of fun and I'm working on a Shapeshifter Commander deck right now that I'm hoping will be as functional as it looks.

I don't play very often. In fact, I prefer the process of building a deck to actually playing with it. The possibilities are more intriguing to me than the practical applications. Plus, I work too much to play competitively. So, when I do play it's usually just against my roommate or a close friend. Occasionally, I go to New Set Draft Tournaments, but I rarely make it out to game nights.
