Deck Overview

Ronin 64 is an aggressive aggro-burn artifact deck utilizing low-cost artifact creatures in combination with burn and pump spells. The deck aims to quickly close out games by applying constant pressure and having flexible removal through burn spells.

General Strategy

Ronin 64 looks to rapidly deploy threats and maintain a steady barrage of damage. Bomat Courier, Rabbit Battery, Reinforced Ronin, Gingerbrute, Ornithopter and Spark Elemental, form your creature base. The deck uses pump spells such as Built to Smash and Mutagenic Growth for surprise burst damage. Burn spells such as Lightning Bolt and Galvanic Blast increase the deck's versatility by providing direct damage and creature removal. And Shrapnel Blast makes those little hasters even more useful.

Sideboard Strategy

Our weakness is pretty obvious. Chalice of the Void. Ouch. So because this deck is built in a very particular way, to allow for its consistency and inevitability, normal sideboarding just won’t do.

See there are essentially 4 cards in the deck. Pump, burn, haste and land. This mitigates our 64 card size as well as ensuring every hand and draw will be useful because it all furthers the gameplan. Taking this into consideration our sideboard would need to replace pieces yet maintain this redundancy.

So our plan is, if we know Chalice of the Void is being sided in, we take out specific cards for all 12 cards in the sideboard. Take out Spark Elemental for Lightning Serpent. Take out Galvanic Blast and Lightning Bolt for Abrade and Smash to Smithereens.

This maintains our 4 card redundancy that keeps the deck humming. Slight trade offs like cmc and damage versatility are present. However the security of knowing Chalice of the Void can’t hurt us anymore is just too nice haha.
