I originally had a list up when caw blade hadn't been seen placing higher up in modern events and now that it is, I want to work towards making a unique, yet solid, version of the deck.

Explanations for the current setup are as follows-

Batterskull- Win con option. Solid card, great inclusion.

Celestial Colonnade- versatile card with mana fix and creature option, again and alternate win con.

Cryptic Command- versatility when you need it, makes the game more open for possibilities

Elspeth, Knight-Errant- reinforces our smaller creatures and turns geist into a better win-con. Also create targets for swords.

Geist of Saint Traft-win-con option. Obviously weak to ground blockers but the benefits often outweigh the drawback on him.

Hallowed Fountain- derp

Island / Plains- the basics. Sometimes you just need them. Go ahead and Path to Exile my creature, you only help my cause mana wise.

Misty Rainforest- will probably end up dropping it due to the cost($) but in a perfect world fetches need no explanation.

Moorland Haunt - yup, more targets for swords.

Path to Exile- the deck needs removal, this is the extent of it.

Remand- counters are always great, so why not Mana Leak? This particular deck lacks some card draw so this is card draw both early and late game so it gives me time to prepare for the card that I counter with it.

Spell Snare- some of the most powerful cards in the format are 2 drops. This is the best answer to that. Plus if I can nix their two drop, drop t3 geist, I can usually handle whatever is tossed out on their t3.

Snapcaster Mage- the hero of all control decks, makes remand a solid source of card draw (and recursion of counter).

Squadron Hawk- Caw

Steelshaper's Gift- the lone Stoneforge Mystic tutor. Obviously not as good but it can help in the time of need.

Sword of Fire and Ice / Sword of Feast and Famine- the go-to swords. Pretty straight forward again.

Sleight of Hand- "scry" 2 "draw" 1. Essentilly the Preordain of the deck. Again, obviously not the same but a good replacement.

------THE MAYBES-----

Gideon Jura- one of the stars of the original caw-blade decks, he could help be a solid late game control aspect.

Azorius Charm- the utility is great, so it could be a solid addition. however, the two slot is very occupied in the deck with other very important cards.

Jace, Architect of Thought- card draw, slows aggro, could he be used effectively with Gideon Jura?
