Maybeboard

Vehicles. Charge counters. Energy counters. Value grind. Infinite combo.

Use Mishra to animate vehicles and other non-creature artifacts for massive value. Accumulate or proliferate charge or counters for further value. Cycle and recur artifacts by sacrificing the temporary Mishra's Warform for even more value. Once value is high enough finish the game with Gonti's Aether Heart combo.

Vehicles can be animated as a Mishra's Warform for value and the originals can also be crewed by Mishra.

I've always liked charge counters and this deck feels like a good place to finally utilize them to the fullest

Charge counters users:

Chargers:

Less prominent compared to charges but there just aren't enough good payoff cards to justify adding more energy generators.

Energy:

  • Aether Hub - a nice land to start things off
  • Demon of Dark Schemes - nice mini-board wipe effect that comes with both generation and sink. Neat!
  • Aetherworks Marvel - works great with our Mishra's Warform tokens and recursion sub-theme.
  • Gonti's Aether Heart - the real juggernaut of this panel - solid generator on its own, but more importantly if a single artifact enters the battlefield each turn it can provide very cheap repeatable extra turns with Mishra's Warform copying it and can go infinite with a few cards in the deck. More in the Combo section.

Mishra's Warform Based

  • Ichor Wellspring, Mephitic Draught provide solid draw 2.
  • The Everflowing Well   - another draw 2, with added bonus of mill 2. The once flipped into a land, provides ramp and additional fun and powerful options to make a permanent, say a land into a copy of a permanent spell you've cast. The flip land is also an artifact, which means it synergises well with many other cards from the deck.
  • Brass's Tunnel-Grinder   - floor level is draw 1 which is good but the ceiling is through the roof, as this allow us to either cycle unwanted cards or dump our artifacts in the yard, where they can be recurred. Once flipped, the land provides ramp and further discover value.
  • Stonespeaker Crystal provide card draw (+ GY hate in the latter case), while The Mightstone and Weakstone   can also be used as removal.
  • Drach'Nyen, Spine of Ish Sah, Tithing Blade   and Executioner's Capsule provide removal.
  • Mindslaver - The value of taking over someones turn and using their cards/creatures against the table is just so good. But the real value is the friends we make by targetting them with Mindslaver :).
  • Perpetual Timepiece - another yard filler, whose Mishra's Warform can also be used to keep us from milling.

Graveyard Based

Sacrifice Based

  • Arcum Dagsson - solid card that can tutor our win conditions directly into play by ditching the temporary Mishra's Warform.
  • Smelting Vat - as mentioned Mishra's Warform copies mana cost and can thus be used to great effect with this card.
  • Anchor to Reality - great versatile tutor that can grab either a needed vehicle or Drach'Nyen for removal. Boots are also always an option.
  • Audacious Reshapers - solid value card that at minimum can get an artifact land to ramp us or potentially high roll into an expensive artifact. Damage expected with 50 artifacts in the deck? Statistics says 1 but if you are at 2 life and activate this umm...proceed at your own risk. :P

General Value

  • Panharmonicon - doubles any ETBs of our artifacts and the deck runs some very important ones including the combo.
  • Strionic Resonator and Lithoform Engine can double Mishra's trigger or our artifacts ETBs. Both can be used in the combo.
  • Master Transmuter - can either cheat a larger card into play by returning the Mishra's Warform token or essentially blink an artifact with a useful ETB like The Mightstone and Weakstone   or Spine of Ish Sah.
  • Padeem, Consul of Innovation - provides blanket protection to our artifacts and usually draws a card every turn.
  • Dowsing Device   - new artifact that has a useful minor effect in giving +1/+0 and haste to a creature, whenever an artifact enters the battlefield. But the reason this is here is another - once flipped it becomes a 2 mana ramp spell and the backside has a solid pump ability, which can knock out an unsuspecting opponent.

Personally I love infinite combos, so when I realized the interaction between Mishra's Warform and Gonti's Aether Heart while I was making a video on Mishra, I just knew the combo had to be in here.

It works in conjunction with:

The deck runs quite a few tutors to ensure both being able to answer different situations and to grab the combo more easily.

Tutors to graveyard:

Tutors directly to the battlefield:

This package can be slotted in case you don't want to play an infinite combo or simply for variety. As I already mentioned above counters are abundant in this deck and it is not too improbable that Lux Artillery would be active when it enters the battlefield, especially when used in conjunction with a card like Vexing Puzzlebox, which can generate the counters needed practically on its own. Furthermore Lux Artillery is a non-creature artifact, which means it can be copied as a Mishra's Warform to deal an extra 10 damage to each opponent. Knight Paladin and Reaver Titan are two more vehicles that hit each opponent for 4 and 5 damage respectively. This gives the deck a lot of reach and the damage does stack up surprisingly quick.

In: Lux Artillery / Knight Paladin / Reaver Titan

Another fun option that I sometimes go for is The Millennium Calendar.

Out: Oni-Cult Anvil / Gonti's Aether Heart / Tezzeret, Artifice Master

Just wanted to add a few more things that I think would be interesting.

Notes:

  • Most combo pieces mentioned in the combo section are also useful cards that can provide card advantage or double triggers since most artifacts in the deck have useful triggered (ETB, on attack etc) or activated abilities.
  • the deck is exceptionally resilient, being able to produce massive amounts of mana and recur almost any artifact from the graveyard with a mini-combo of Conqueror's Foothold   + Scrap Mastery
  • this deck is my physical version of a deck I made for a video Video Link -> https://youtu.be/tRgDJ69qlqg

  • this current version is different because a) the original has cards that are above my budget, b) this one focuses a bit more on charge counters compared to and c) when I was making the video I immediately realized the combo potential with the heart and since I love combos I just had include it.

Updates

Added huge boost (11 cards) to the charge sub-theme at minimal cost. (the only notable loss was Daretti)

Replaced some of the mana rocks with Vexing Puzzlebox, Empowered Autogenerator, Stonespeaker Crystal, thus adding more synergy and control.

Added some underplayed cards that are on theme such as Altar of Shadows, Vedalken Infuser and Coretapper.

Deluxe Dragster is a new vehicle that provides nice value - it is an on-hit ability, but the vehicle itself is near-unblockable.

Last but not least, I finally managed to get a Goblin Engineer for tutoring and recursion.

Overall the new additions add more synergy and utility, but above all - resilience as the deck is now a lot less dependent on Mishra to both fuction or close out a game.

Added some new cards from recent sets - Tithing Blade   - solid edict that can be repeated each turn - The Belligerent - Interesting vehicle that makes a treasure on attack and gives a Future Sight type effect. Removed Smuggler's Copter - Mephitic Draught - cheap draw that isn't as dependent on on our commander as Idol of Oblivion was. - The Everflowing Well   - solid draw 2 mill 2, with possible late game ramp and shenanigans potential. - Brass's Tunnel-Grinder   - draws a card, cycles useless cards and fills the yard, then turns into land with discover value. BiS indeed. - Dowsing Device   - Little ramp card. How ramp? Deck is very artifact heavy so this is acts as Rampant Growth effect and the land it becomes can be used to close a game with unexpected damage.

Behold, blessed reprints!

2 shocklands added, with 2 filter old lands being removed Watery Grave and Blood Crypt
