This deck is part of a budget challenge to build an optimised deck for around 30€ - I saw another deck Baba Yaga, the Boogyman comparing Toshiro to John Wick, which I thought was spot on! - and wanted to build that theme on a budget, but with more of a spellslinger vibe having John Wick kill anything that gets in his way and stabbing opponents with Strata Scythe
or ramming them with Lashwrithe!
Even though this is unusual for mono-black, this is indeed a spellslinger deck.
The sky is blue, water is wet and John Wick will kill anyone who stands in his way. - These are facts of life that everyone knows.
And as such our opponents will be hesitant in attacking us when they see we have mana up, since they know that at least one kill spell is waiting.
Mr. Wick's strength lies not in his skill at killing, but his skill at knowing when to kill - by making an example out of anyone attacking us or killing blockers before Mr. Wick swings in with lethal commander damage.

Victory Chimes is a special card in this deck as it gives us mana each turn to cast all these wonderful instant spells.

Shred Memory Great budget tutor! Finds many important cards like Exsanguinate.
This deck is mostly defensive until we see our opening and then we let Mr. Wick do his thing Strata Scythe or let him get into his Lashwrithe - to stab and ram down our enemies.
Or we could cast a Bubbling Muck into a huge Exsanguinate to finish everyone off.
