A tricky variation on Creakwood Critters, this time making the deck functionally mono-black!

Thanks to the namesake Creakwood Liege's hybrid mana cost, he functions just as comfortably in a mono-black build. The same can't be necessarily said of your other creatures (and tokens) in particular... do you really want to limit yourself to just hybrid creatures? Fortunately, you can get both of the Liege's burly boosts on the newly-minted Pest tokens, which are readily produced by a number of black cards  .

Going mono-black makes some options more viable, such as Grave Pact being castable and Dark Ritual serving as a reliable way to get a second-turn Liege! Of course, going down to one colour limits us as far as the colour pie goes, and as anyone knows, black can't hope to deal with artifacts or enchantments. That's where the 'cheat' comes in... we're fielding all sort of green (and black) critters, ideally. How can they be put to work? Why, by paying for the green mana in a Convoke cost, of course! Sprouting Renewal can pick off deadly noncreature threats with the tap of a single Pest token or Liege (you weren't planning on sending him into combat anyway, were ya??) being sure to surprise an opponent who sees a table of nothing but swamps.
