So ! The deck contains some cards that I like a lot. But ! There are some cards that I don't understand.. Tricks of the Trade can be replaced by Aether Tunnel. Traitorous Instinct can be replaced by Mob Rule. Also, I think you need more creatures. Your commander needs at least 3 creatures on board, but only 1/4 of ur deck is creatures. Also, I reeeealy think Dark Nourishment is a bad card. Good luck with your deck ! Building Commanders isnt easy.

Hey, for budget this looks good, but if you want to play this at FNM then there's several changes you can make for improvement.

I suggest playing 4x Llanowar Elves replacing all Old-Growth Dryads. Dryads is not a playable card because it gives your opponent card advantage for nothing. Your opponent getting a free land is not worth a 3/3 creature even turn one. Llanowar can help to accelerate mana into many of the higher casting cost cards here.

Dark Nourishment is not worth spots in a deck. It's a card for limited not Standard. Five mana to do 3 damage to opponent and you gain 3 life is not worth it. I suggest cutting it because you don't need another removal spell, 4x Offering and 3x Down is good. Consider cutting Nourishment for 1x Saproling Migration and 1x more Spore Swarm? These cards that make Ling tokens it helps your game plan with Sporecrown, Tendershoot and to enable kicker for Offering.

Verdant Force costs too much and is redundant because of Tendershoot which is a much better card. Consider cutting Force for 2x more Yavimaya Sapherd? Sapherd is a very good three drop for Lings especially with Sporecrown because it can pump both Sapherd and the token it creates.

20x total lands is not enough land without any ramp even if you add 4x Llanowar Elves you still want more lands. I suggest 24x total lands without Llanowar and 22x total with Llanowar. I recommend 4x Blooming Marsh it should be your first new card purchase if you plan on playing this deck at FNM. If you can't afford Marsh then add 4x Foul Orchard as another Golgari dual land. Due to the budget and having a budget manabase you'll have to expect to slow down a turn. This is not ideal, but you need to be able to hit both green and black more consistently; the current manabase is not consistent. To add more land you can cut Deathbloom Thallid or Thallid Omnivore or both.

Here's a list to consider:

  • 4x Llanowar Elves
  • 4x Sporecrown
  • 4x Sapherd
  • 2x Slimefoot
  • 3x Tendershoot
  • 2x Torgaar

  • 4x Migration
  • 4x Swarm
  • 4x Infection
  • 3x Offering
  • 3x Cast Down

  • 1x Fungal Plots

  • 4x Blooming Marsh or Foul Orchard
  • 4x Cemetery
  • 8x Forest
  • 6x Swamp

If you're going to FNM then you'll want a 15 card sideboard. Control will be a hard matchup because of board wipes, Settle the Wreckage and counters: Essence Scatter and Syncopate. I recommend 4x Duress. Goblin Chainwhirler is going to wreck token strategies the only way to prevent this is to be able to stop the Goblin before it's played. I recommend 4x Divest to prevent Chainwhirler. Divest is also nice since the other option is to take an artifact from your opponent's hand and not a creature it can be sideboard in for other matchups then mono-red.

Good luck with your deck.

I think the deck looks pretty good, I am just confused as to how you summon The Scarab God though, since I don't see any blue sources?

It is not necessarily a good idea to run a deck with only one blue manna symbol. It may not be a terrible idea to run more blue, playing esper instead of just black-white. Although running a second The Scarab God may be quite expensive, running a few blue creatures may not be a terrible idea, Spellweaver Eternal is a pretty good monster, and prowess is a fantastic mechanic.

Also, for what it does, Dark Nourishment is not really worth its high manna cost, it would almost be better to have a decent draw spell, either in black (Costly Plunder, which is also a great way to trigger Festering Mummy's effect); or in blue (Opt is a great/cheap draw spell, Hieroglyphic Illumination is a card that can be played early game for 1 or late game for four for the extra card draw).

For lands, to play esper, Drowned Catacomb is a good fit, especially for a blue splash, as you will almost always have a Swamp up.

I hope your deck building continues to go well, this is a pretty good list-- especially for your second deck!

I'd say take out the Dark Nourishments and put in two more Essence Extractions

Hey, nice to see that ppl play the only and true color... Black Dominance! (No pun intended)

The card that I would like to suggest is: Gonti's Machinations which does the same yet better as Dark Nourishment (also it's CMC is way to high to be effective)

If you would like a bit more competitive mana base; you might want to take out 10 swamps for: 2x Scavenger Grounds, 4x Ifnir Deadlands and 4x Sunscorched Desert.

And to max the value of Yahenni, Undying Partisan's sac ability, Bishop of the Bloodstained and Skymarch Bloodletter ETB effect, as well as Gifted Aetherborn's deathtouch (To kill treats w/o losing creature value and gaining 4 instead of 2 life, if not more). I highly recommend a playset of Supernatural Stamina. Only for and on instant speed.

Hope these upgrades help, and they should be rather cheap.
