Nice I really like the new changes, but what if you swapped out Brimstone Mage for something a bit less in mana consumption like a Lobber Crew , Psychic Membrane or a AEther Membrane other than that I think the deck will run wayy smoother with these new improvements

I always liked using Training Grounds and similar effects with the level up creatures - good candidates include Brimstone Mage, Hada Spy Patrol and Kabira Vindicator. I also felt it really put Dark Impostor over the top!

If you were willing to make room for a toolbox, it also pairs perfectly with the rebels (Lin Sivvi, Defiant Hero et al.) and other creature-fetchers like Skyshroud Poacher, Moggcatcher and Seahunter.

I don't think I saw those cards in your list or the comments above, so here you are:

They're in your colors and very casual, I hope this helped :)

Merfolk Thaumaturgist and Mannichi, the Fevered Dream play nicely with Will's +2. Turn two creatures into 0/3 and then activate one of them to turn the creatures into 3/0 and kill them.

Echo Mage plays well off both their ultimates. Double level up counters when you have Rowan's emblem as well as copy an instant or sorcery 4x off activating him (on top of the twice if you ultimate Rowan before Will). Level up in general might be viable, Brimstone Mage tapping for 6 damage will be decent.

Arcanis the Omnipotent tapping to draw 6 cards will make him even more powerful here than in other decks.

Also artifacts are another solid route. Copying Kurkesh, Onakke Ancient's ability to copy an artifact's activated ability will be really potent, and using Master Transmuter to return one artifact to hand and pop two onto the battlefield will be insane.

Also back on the note of proliferate effects, there's Skyship Plunderer for a weaker effect, but still effective if you only have one of the pair in play.

Going by the "7 by 9" rule is a bit hard for this deck as most of it relies on the numbers of the cards. But here's a breakdown as close as I could get for it. There's only really 5 categories of effects. While the other 3 just break down the number of countdown numbers of random cards.

5 Countdown numbers (13)

4 Countdown numbers (13)

1-3 Countdown numbers (6)

Recusion (6)

Protection (8)

Destruction (6)

Card draw (8)

Mana rocks (6)

Out of your big cards, the ones that seem to cost way too much mana that don't do too much are Cruel Reality, Price of Knowledge, Sanguine Bond, Hellhole Rats, Brimstone Mage. For what they each want to do, I feel your deck doesn't do enough of them. I can understand if you like some of these enchantments because they're fun but if you're looking for stuff to cut def go with these.

Would def cut out some cards that have creature synergies such as Rakdos and Purphoros since you don't have a lot of creatures. Usually just looking to stax people out with enchantments rather than kill with creatures. Would recommend some more ramp and a personal spicy card to hit a lot of enchantments for free Hazoret's Undying Fury.

uh, not sure if you noticed or not but Punishing Fire is banned in modern.

regardless, Monastery Swiftspear is pretty much a must run.

Cinder Pyromancer and Cunning Sparkmage are way too slow for modern, with the pace of the format they get shut out too fast, same with Brimstone Mage, a wee bit too slow.

Shock is generally a bad card, if you're gonna run anything like it you should probably run Forked Bolt or even Burst Lightning

Grapeshot is really bad in any deck that doesn't have the entire storm package sadly.

Grim Lavamancer is a great card if you're willing to shell out the extra dosh.

last but not least Vexing Devil can be pretty good assuming they dont have a bolt.

that's my two cents at least. best of luck!
