Blastoderm

Creature — Beast

Shroud (This permanent can't be the target of spells or abilities.)

Fading 3 (This creature enters the battlefield with three fade counters on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a fade counter from it. If you can't, sacrifice it.)

Thanks Altoman. I’m still relatively new to Pauper as a format, so I’m in the process of learning the cardpool. You’re right about the fragility of the key card, of course, and I’m glad you pointed out Apostle's Blessing—I always forget that’s a common. Vines of Vastwood is great too, and I’ll add both to the Maybeboard until I determine how to adjust the maindeck. The deck performs reasonably well as is, owing to the breathing room gained by interfering with the opponent’s mana base, but I agree that if there’s an effective way to protect the core strategy then that’s the best course of action.

I will definitely consider replacing Siege Wurm with Tangle Golem (never saw that before, that’s a new card for me!). I haven’t had much issue ramping up to the wurm’s cmc, but the golem appears to be an all around improvement. Fading sounds kind of sketchy so I’ll pass on Blastoderm.

Many thanks for the overview, you’ve given me a lot of great suggestions here!

What a nice deck. I love it. However I think it might be a little fragile. You rely heavily on a 1/1 and you don't have a way to remove anything that the opponent placed on the board.

You are tapping most of your creatures so you won't be able to use convoke from Siege Wurm. I suggest replacing it with Blastoderm or Tangle Golem or maybe go wild with Ulamog's Crusher. :P

A 1/1 is fragile. You have a pretty low mana curve and you are using mana creatures so you don't need 20 forest. I would remove 4 of them to add Vines of Vastwood and/or Apostle's Blessing.

Pre-modern is a format that certainly has a lot of appeal to me. I am myself in the process of constructing a pair of pre-modern decks, and revived my old Fires deck of back in 2001.

I also built a pair of decks for Urza Block Constructed, and there are a lot of nice cards in that block to use in a mono-green pre-modern deck too.

Cards you might consider, if those are not in your deck already, are Exploration and Saproling Burst . Blastoderm is another power meanie at 5/5. And even though the Albino Trolls are no big hitters, they are available turn 2 at 3/3 with Regenerate.

Something else that should not be overseen lightly, Treetop Village is a 3/3 creature, as well as a land. With Giant Growth it hits or blocks for 6.

With all that hitting power, there hardly is the need for Verdant Force or Skyshroud Behemoth to be very honest.

I'm not sure Fling is that great in the deck. You work pretty hard to put those creatures on the field. I'm pretty sure you don't want to sac them. And on top of that, if you don't have enough creatures, it becomes a dead card in your hand.

Personnally I think I would focus more on the Dwarfs with stuff like Adventurous Impulse.

When I see Temur Battle Rage, it screams Kiln Fiend. I know, I know, it's not the goal of the deck....but it's so good. Remove the artifacts to put more stuff like Vines of Vastwood, Faithless Looting, Titan's Strength or Manamorphose. All that so you can slowly grow your army while always keeping the opponent on his toes for SURPRISE 10/10, Double strike, trample Kiln Fiend.

Finally about lands. I understand the 22 lands, but with nothing to help you gain mana faster, you need raw 5 or 6 lands to play your Big Boys. Lets be honest, 6 lands in 6 turns means you won't have alot of material to stay alive until D-Day for a 4/4. Blastoderm is way more menacing and cost less. Also you need some mana fix with Rugged Highlands or something like that.

All in all, I think your deck has alot of potential. It can be really good, but mostly really fun to play. :)

Crossbow Ambush for Geralt's crossbow.

Silverglade Elemental and Boneyard Lurker remind me a bit of a Leshen.

Ridgescale Tusker and Prowling Pangolin are like a Shaelmaar.

Giant Warthog is a... well a boar.

Ravenous Chupacabra reminds me a lot of the rabid, mangey dogs you find across Velen.

Screeching Harpy is pretty self-explanatory. There are lots of others, but the art on this one is pretty on-point with the Witcher.

Chorts and Fiends kind of look like Baloths and those kinds of beasts in Magic. Nessian Demolok is particularly close, but there's also Baloth Woodcrasher, Blastoderm and Garruk's Companion, among many others.

Werewolves... Take your pick. However very few werewolves in Magic depict them quite like they are in Witcher. They're so gross, painful and deformed in that game, so maybe you can choose some based on that.

Replace Nature's Lore for Sakura-Tribe Elder, bring at least 1x Krosan Tusker, cut at least 3x Wretched Gryff and 2x Tangle Golem for 2/3x Fierce Empath at least 1X Ulamog's Crusher and some mainboard Pulse of Murasa to retrieve STE and depletion lands, if you pack 4x pulses, you'll probably won't need the food lands, which can slow you down. Nissa's Pilgrimage and Arboreal Grazer are some cards to consider too, along Land Grant. Nissas nets you 3 cards, grazer ramps and stops aggro for a while and land grant is free. Chimeras seem a tad fragile, maybe you can use something like Blastoderm which is also retrievable with Pulse.

@Altoman that Blastoderm is actually super interesting, i've never seen that card! I considered Vigean Hydropon, but I never found it that appealing without many fight mechanics in the deck. I have never tried it however so it might be worth a shot. As for Skarrgan Pit-Skulk while i would consider this in a more competitive meta, this is a little more aggressive than i'd like to go with the deck, given the casual nature of the group.

Thanks a bunch for the suggestions and for checking out the deck tho!

Nice deck! I always liked proliferate decks.

I suggest Vigean Hydropon. It goes really well with proliferate.

Also, Skarrgan Pit-Skulk is something you might want to consider. Mix it up with Bioshift and you'll have great results.

Finally I would swap Cold-Water Snapper for Blastoderm because you can proliferate the fade counters and it cost less for better firepower.
