Beseech the Queen

Sorcery

( can be paid with any two mana or with . This card's converted mana cost is 6.)

Search your library for a card with converted mana cost less than or equal to the number of lands you control, reveal it, and put it into your hand. Then shuffle your library.

Some small recommendations I can think of:

Beseech the Mirror > Diabolic tutor - It has another black symbol for your commander, can act as a sac outlet and even a potential free spell. Pretty much a strict upgrade.

Cabal stronghold should be cut IMO because it isn't impactful enough. You need 4 basics just to break even and 5 basics just for 1 mana. It doesn't get a benefit from urborg like coffers does. If this was a more basic, budget deck I could see it's inclusion, but I don't feel its impactful enough for a build of this quality. What has your experience been with it? Perhaps swap in a Bojuka Bog and/or a fetchland? Bog is nice given your lack of grave hate (meta dependent). The fetchland is nice because it can bring in bog at instant speed or even witches cottage. Not to mention potential shuffling synergy. None of needed of course, just wanted to offer a potential alternative utility land that could still tap for black (unlike stronghold). Urborg allows you to keep the fetch until you need it too!

Should neither of those lands interest you, perhaps a Deserted Temple to untap coffers/nykthos/crypt + politics?

I notice a lot of your deck is devotion based, how has that been going for you? How often did you need devotion on board for a card like Sanguimancy where it just didn't pan out as needed? I think sanguimancy is a ripe cut, expensive cost and boardstate required.

At the risk of winmore, Alhammarret's Archive?

In Garruk's Wake - 7-9 mana for a wipe is a bit expensive. How has it been? Same idea with Increasing Ambition. 5 mana for a card and then 8 for 2 cards is a bit steep. I think Vampiric Tutor to help you set up draws, cast "for free" and at instant speed is better.

One thing I will say, I love the synergy of the entire deck, seems to flow very nicely without too much fat on it. I know most Krrik decks focus on a lower avg cmc to go with their speedy commander. What made you chose a more midrange approach, the resiliency? Have you thought of cutting down the avg cmc from 4.00 to 3.8 or potentially 3.6? Speeding it up would make this even more deadly!

This is a super fun little combo deck! But it can get shut down pretty easily. I'd suggest putting some key Commander pieces in that you're missing... and thankfully there's a TON of things that work with a land-based deck archetype like this in those colors.

First off, you need to complete your Cultivator combo with Splendid Reclamation for getting all those lands out of your own yard in a very big way (Cultivator probably becomes the biggest thing in your game at this point)!

Centaur Vinecrasher or Multani, Yavimaya's Avatar are superb alternate or additional beatsticks for Cultivator with tons of synergy with your commander that also dig themselves out of the graveyard after they get immediately removed like in my games!

Terravore is nice if you never hit Cultivator in your games (or it gets hated out).

Constant Mists basically you get eternal fog in a deck like this whenever you want if it doesn't get countered.

Entish Restoration, Dig Up, and Beseech the Queen for synergistic tutors.

Kagha, Shadow Archdruid, Elvish Reclaimer, Grisly Salvage, World Shaper, Circle of the Land Druid, Stinkweed Imp, Winding Way, Life from the Loam, Scapeshift, and Satyr Wayfinder for digging through the deck faster while also rotating lands. Life From the Loam is ESPECIALLY GOOD for its dredge ability in this deck so you can keep casting it. Scapeshift is the single most powerful cycler you could run but it's very $$$ and doesn't synergize completely with this deck (it's more for landfall decks, but it can still work with this too).

The utility lands Witch's Cottage, Mortuary Mire, Memorial to Folly can help get your creatures back out of the 'yard.

The utility lands Witch's Clinic, Rogue's Passage, Ghost Quarter, Strip Mine, Wasteland, Field of the Dead, Thespian's Stage, Restless Cottage, Boseiju, Who Endures, and Takenuma, Abandoned Mire would all help your deck's overall resilience and ability to deal with threats.

Either Abundance or Rishkar's Expertise could be a game-ending bomb for you. Rishkar's is great if your commander has enough power. You can draw a ton of your deck, likely hit a tutor you cast for free, then if your hand is flooded with lands you discard down to 7 putting all those lands in your 'yard making your commander even bigger! Abundance isn't as synergistic, but is basically a creature tutor spell for Cultivator Colossus if you decide to not run any other beaters or utility creatures.

Assassin's Trophy for instant-cast targeted removal of EVERYTHING.

Tear Asunder and Abrupt Decay are less-good Assassin's Trophy but at least Decay can't be countered.

Casualties of War for when you need to get rid of a lot of different pests that turn.

Return to Nature for instant-cast targeted removal of Enchantment/Artifact or Graveyard card.

Drown in Filth for a land-synergistic targeted removal that gets around indestructible.

Terror Tide for land-synergistic boardwipe that also gets around indestructible.

Nurgle's Conscription, Froghemoth, and Bojuka Bog for some enemy graveyard hate.

Rain of Filth for a MASSIVE spike in mana for that turn.

Worm Harvest for generating a TON of tokens off of the lands in your 'yard.

Titania, Protector of Argoth or Rampaging Baloths for much, much bigger tokens.

Gitrog, Horror of Zhava and The Gitrog Monster for super frog-land-pseudocycling synergy!

Brawn since you're putting things in your 'yard anyways you might as well give your commander and other beatsticks Trample for free! Trample has saved me so many times in games. No reason not to run it in this deck tbh.

Erinis, Gloom Stalker, Ayula's Influence, and Old Rutstein for more synergy with your commander's ability.

Life / Death for making an army out of your lands or pulling something out of your 'yard.

The planeswalkers Nissa of Shadowed Boughs and Vraska, Golgari Queen can give you alternate win-cons while also being synergistic with your commander.

If you don't need more combo stuff and just need another big beatstick alternate for the Colossus it's hard to go wrong with Yargle and Multani's power (plus the stained glass alt-art is sick!). But unfortunately it doesn't come with the cool yard recovery abilities of the other beatsticks I mentioned and doesn't have trample or evasion, but it does have more power than Emrakul!

drader Hey man! So here are my suggestions:

Number one, I think you need way more mana dorks. Arbor Elf, Llanowar Elves, Fyndhorn Elves, Elvish Mystic,Elves of Deep Shadow & Deathrite Shaman are all great options. Other cards like Farseek, Nature's Lore, Three Visits, Dark Ritual & Culling the Weak are also always great to have access to.

It looks like you need a bit more card draw as well, I'd recommend Necropotence, Dark Confidant, Dark Tutelage, Ad Nauseam, Toski, Bearer of Secrets & Scroll Rack.

I know they can get expensive, but a few Tutors are essential for a smooth game plan. A few cheaper options are Diabolic Tutor, Profane Tutor, Time of Need, Beseech the Queen & Shared Summons. Diabolic Intent & Worldly Tutor are also relatively cheap due to recent print runs.

Metallic Mimic could also work wonders here, allowing your Snake tokens to host more -1/-1 counters, helping the deck power itself. Young Wolf accomplishes something similar.

Let me know how you feel about these recommendations!

@dacardgabo Sheoldred, the Apocalypse and Phyrexian Obliterator are two that I've been leaning towards putting in (or back in when it comes to the Phyrexian Obliterator). My current edge cards are Yahenni, Undying Partisan (just kinda falls short of the other 2 tbh), Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon (they generally cause a lot of hate to be directed towards me even tho I love skippy to death), Torment of Hailfire (just a stale way to win due to how common of a wincon it is for black), Praetor's Grasp (it's fun and stayed in since I cracked a foil back in the day, but it's hard to use on spelltable and ppl generally just don't like u taking things. Note, you can exile a combo card even if you never plan on using it), and the tutors Beseech the Queen and Grim Tutor (70% of the time, they just find land or a targeting permanent, but I would rather them just be better draw spells). I just haven't found anything personally interesting enough to put in for them yet.

Profane Command's last ability allows you to target multiple creatures to kill with Horobi, Death's Wail similar to how Touch of Darkness and Cauldron of Souls work, but requires mana for each target. The third ability gives you a way to get around indestructible. The other two options are more niche and game state specific, but are still nice modes to throw onto a card that already fits the game plan.

Necromancy is a general good-stuff card. It targets things in the graveyard so it won't kill them with Horobi, Death's Wail (as they are already dead when the target happens, and just become attached when they enter the battlefield. Similar to how Gift of Doom can be attached to Horobi, Death's Wail if you morph it). I generally just play it if I wanna bring back something big for value (like Ink-Eyes, Servant of Oni) or flash it in to grab a sneaky blocker.

Darksteel Ingot is decent because my friends like to just blow everything up. There's a lot of Vandalblasts, Bane of Progresses, Aura Shards, etc. But Relic of Legends is perfectly fine as the second ability doesn't actually target what it taps. And you have it right, it is still a mana ability, so you can use it at any time you would have priority. Do note that the ability is coming from the Relic of Legends itself, so you can tap a creature with summoning sickness for it too.

Lol, I'm glad other ppl are using Mimic Vat. It was always a pet card of mine. Super fun when you can throw a Phyrexian Metamorph under it. Or cheat the trigger by ending the turn with Sundial of the Infinite so you can keep the token.

Hi! I like the deck! I think its very flavorful and on point. This deck can be very strong, but I will say I am not a fan of some of the cards used in here (mainly Alhammarret's Archive, Well of Lost Dreams, and that Athreos). However, I know my build is not quite as thematic, so if there are flavor reasons then ignore me, lol. It does play out differently then my Karlov deck Karlov, Leader of the Ghost Mafia and I enjoyed playtesting it. The core of the deck very much remains the same.

I also think your removal and mana could be a little tweaked though. I know there are flavor reasons, but Despark is such a good card I feel like you may want to reconsider. Further, I feel you may be running 1 or 2 extra sources of removal. After all, Removal is stapled on Karlov, so I don't think you need to run quite as many removal sources as other ozrhov commanders (but this also takes your meta into account, so if its just nuts then ignore me lol). It may be worth including an extra source of card draw, for which I highly recommend Dark Confidant while it is as cheap as it is right now. That, or maybe have another tutor? I wouldn't want you to break flavor, but at least Beseech the Queen is a fairly cheap tutor. As far as your mana base, I think you should swap a few plains with a few swamps. In playtesting, I always found I had way more plains then I needed at any given time versus times where I needed a swamp.

I enjoyed it a lot though! The Warhammer cards are super strong, and its a pretty convincing argument to run them in my Karlov deck!

Triton on Need some help cutting some …

Here are some cuts:

Those are the 11 I'd personally cut, I'm a bit torn on Dregs of Sorrow because I think it's good removal in Belbe. Maybe Bolas's Citadel is another good option.

Hope this helps!
