Dawn of Hope

Enchantment

Whenever you gain life, you may pay . If you do, draw a card.

: Create a 1/1 white Soldier token with lifelink.

RiotRunner789, you are 100% correct - the quest for perfection is never complete.

I just feel a certain way about some cards for no apparent reason, and Smuggler's Share is one of those cards I just feel iffy on. I don't really have a good reason as to why - I just don't really like it for whatever reason.

I thought about Well of Lost Dreams. Honestly I kind of like it more than Dawn of Hope as you could potentially pay 1:1 instead of 2:1. However it comes with the downside of being two more mana. Honestly though thinking about it I may end up swapping the two. You might've convinced me.

As for Court of Grace, I just don't vibe with the Monarch mechanic. I don't really have a good reason as to why, I just don't. I could consider it as you're right - protecting the Monarch title is easier with a bunch of fat flying angels. I'll consider it.

As for Reconnaissance, you might've just convinced me to put it into another deck I run, Adeline, Resplendent Cathar. I had been considering it for some time, but I completely forgot about the cleanup step after damage is dealt. I didn't even consider using it then, haha. Unsure about it for Giada, but definitely for Adeline.

Because you mentioned card advantage, have you considered the following?

Smuggler's Share:Anytime an opponent draws an extra card is often. Plus, the random treasure every now and then.

Well of Lost Dreams: You have Dawn of Hope and the well is similiar but has a much higher ceiling. Big beater and mana open can easily net 4+ cards.

Court of Grace: On theme and keeping the monarch is easier with a bunch of fliers. Will at least replace itself and give evasive chump blockers.

An unrelated card to card advantage would also be Reconnaissance. It's purely for combat but allows you to swing with impunity with every creature every turn. Unfavorable block? Untap and back out. It also grants pseudo vigilance since you can untap and remove from combat after damage with zero downside.

Like the deck. Honestly looks good as is but alas, we are never finished tinkering.

Anatak on Defender Lifegain... Lets get political

Hello, thank you for listing this very interesting deck. I've been thinking about a similar idea, combining Defenders and Lifegain.

I really like the Angelic theme with Angelic Accord, Luminarch Ascension and Angelic Wall. Very flavourful! I see Seraph Sanctuary in your Maybeboard and think it would only add to this strong flavour.

The Pride Guardian and Wall of Essence haven't turned out to be strong cards in my experience, because they rely on your opponent attacking you to proc the lifegain. Although I suppose that does work very well with Luminarch Ascension, since it discourages your foes to attack you.
Perimeter Captain is a strong enough card on its own and is exempt from this, and may even encourage you to run other good defenders which don't gain life, such as: Wall of Omens and Jeskai Barricade, the later of which by the way is a much needed combat trick, which the deck is currently light on.

A card you may wish to consider is Archangel of Thune, although its expensive! Another is Dawn of Hope.

In any case I wish you luck with the deck and thank you for inspiring some changes in my own build.

Thanks for your suggestions and your interest in my deck, Hexapod! Those are all excellent cards, I even originally considered some of them (Esper Sentinel and Urza's Incubator above all), while I didn't think about the others. Unfortunately, as my budget is limited, these are a bit out of range for me, but maybe with time I will manage to get my hands on some of them! :) Also regarding lands, even though I agree that Kabira Crossroads can slow me down a bit in the early game, it can be quite useful to gain two extra life and trigger either some token producing effect or Dawn of Hope. The reason for Bant Panorama is that it's not a tap land and, if I need it, I can always replace it with a plains and get to shuffle my deck, which I found being quite useful if I'm getting horrible draws haha! Thank you again for engaging and if you have any other suggestions I would be happy to read them! Cheers!

TheMeadiator I like Browbeat and Risk Factor, used both in other decks. I've decided to mainboard 2x Lead the Stampede as it can draw me more cards than Browbeat.

Colossal Majesty is a bit too slow for me, and Dawn of Hope doesn't make much sense here since I dont use Lifelink

I agree that more craw draw is necessary, but it's hard to find good one in these colors for a tribal deck

Some suggestions:

Colossal Majesty if your silvers end up getting big quick

Browbeat is fun for the choice of extra damage

Dawn of Hope if you have the mana to spare to pay when you have lifelink friends

Card draw is how you win games! Even if you just throw in a few one mana buff spells that have the additional effect of "draw a card" it might be worth cutting a few slivers for.

Good luck!!

Out: Crested Sunmare (No synergy), Mindcrank(No synergy), Kaya, Bane of the Dead (too expensiv), Oketra's Last Mercy (sounds cool, doesnt do much)

In (few budget changes): Soul Warden and Soul's Attendant (ez Lifegain), Suture Priest (Like Soulsisters, but hurts the enemy too) and Dawn of Hope (draws cards and can make lifelinkers)

Main Problem would be the manacurve of the deck

Given your CMDR isn't human and will likely grow large Return of the Wildspeaker comes to mind. With your life gain I'm a little surprised to not see Sylvan Library or Aetherflux Reservoir.

Other card draw suggestions, Wedding Ring, Dawn of Hope and Archivist of Oghma.

I would consider replacing Zendikar Resurgent with Doubling Cube.
