Interesting deck, it looks like fun!

I'm curious though, what is the purpose of Pilfered Plans in your deck? It doesn't seem like your deck has any synergies with milling your opponent. If the goal is just to draw some cards then you could achieve that for a lower cost using something like Chart a Course.

I do also have some other suggestions for you if you want to use them.

Blink of an Eye is a strictly better version of Leave in the Dust and it lowers your mana curve. Serum Snare is also a good replacement since it synergizes better with your poison counter game plan.

Prophetic Prism is an alright card for more card draw, but it doesn't help you mana ramp, and is more for color fixing, which is something your deck doesn't seem like it needs. Instead, you could use something like Mind Stone as a cheap way to mana ramp while also giving you the option to draw a card later if you need it.

And Slither Blade is a strictly better version of both Triton Shorestalker and Mist-Cloaked Herald, I would suggest putting Slither up to a full set of 4 and cutting one copy of either of the other two.

Weird suggestion but you might want to cut 2 copies of Into the Roil and add 2 copies of Blink of an Eye. The cards do the exact same thing, but this would allow you to play around cards that exile all copies of a card (example: Test of Talents), or tax all cards of a named type (example: Anointed Peacekeeper). Not necessarily needed, but doesn't hurt if you have it.

Also you may want more black sources for more consistent draws. This suggestion is because all your kicked black spells will require at least 2 sources of black to cast. A land to consider Throne of Makindi as this allows you to stockpile extra mana for kicker spells, but also color foxes for those splashed colors. It is awkward to use so you may just want some other dual source lands like you already have (untapped sources are usually preferred).

Some thoughts:

  • the idea of mixing control and burn is going to be a very difficult tightrope to navigate, because both these ideologies want different things. Control wins by gaining incremental card-advantage, and generally needs a game to go long to pull-ahead. Burn on the other hand doesn’t typically care about card advantage, and will usually waste all their cards haphazardly in an attempt to win the game as soon as possible (and before the opponent can stabilise).

  • From a control standpoint, i’d recommend against stuff like Blink of an Eye (it gives you card disadvantage), Essence Scatter (its application is too narrow, Mana Leak is better 99% of the time), and Ionize (its just too weak/ineffective when soo many good 2-mana counterspells exist, including Counterspell).

  • From the burn standpoint, i’d suggest ditching cards like Goblin Electromancer (you have almost no spells that benefit from this, and in any case its a creature for combo decks), Guttersnipe (its very slow, and waaay weaker than it might read), and Imperial Recruiter (again, too slow for burn. Also messes with cobtrol tempo).

  • cards that could help you here are Dragon's Rage Channeler and Delver of Secrets  Flip. Both if these cards can come into play cheaply, which lets you hold up mana for countermagic, and they both become fairly aggressive quickly. You’ll prolly want Mishra's Bauble to help enable the Channeler.

Need something to bounce Enchantments and Planeswalkers like Blink of an Eye

The synergy with Induced Amnesia is fantastic!

I like the idea of the deck - seems very unique and fun. A couple suggestions you could consider: it looks like you're dabbling in the wizard synergy but you could go a bit deeper for even more synergy with cards like Cyclone Summoner, Docent of Perfection  Flip, Minn, Wily Illusionist,Patron Wizard, Trophy Mage,Tribute Mage, Trinket Mage, Jace's Archivist and Azami, Lady of Scrolls

I think the above additions would help you keep the theme of your deck while offering more synergies all around. If you take this approach, you could also look to include Stonybrook Banneret as a budget medallion.

fetch your token fodder generators with: Trophy Mage,Tribute Mage, Trinket Mage create more fodder with: Docent of Perfection  Flip, Minn, Wily Illusionist

and bounce more with: Cyclone Summoner Stern Proctor & Equilibrium

The rest are just decent control/draw.

Additionally, in keeping with the bounce theme you may want to consider Into the Roil, Blink of an Eye, Disperse, and maybe even Capsize or Snap the former three will let you bounce your own targets for more ETBs/protection and in a pinch they can bounce those pesky enchantments blue has so much trouble dealing with.

For counterspells, the lower the mana cost, the better the counter. there are some great budget options if you find you've always got a handful of cards for free counters (Misdirection Disrupting Shoal) but one of the classics that isn't too pricey isArcane Denial but I'm quickly growing to loveAn Offer You Can't Refuse and Swan Song

For removal, the bounce theme is always great but for those pesky indestructible creatures I auto-include Resculpt in every blue deck I make.

Overall your deck looks like a ton of fun to play already, just adding in my thoughts.

Yesterday on Does Living Lore work with …

You cannot, soz.

Casting a spell with Living Lore's ability gives you the option of casting it without paying its mana cost. This is paying an alternate casting cost for the spell. Overload is another mechanic that lets you pay an alternate casting cost for a spell for a different result. You can not pay more than one alternate casting cost for a spell when you cast it.

Conversely you can still pay optional additional costs (and must pay mandatory additional costs) for spells even if you're paying an alternate cost for them, including no cost like with Living Lore. So if you cast Blink of an Eye, you have the option to pay the additional to draw a card, and if cast Vivisection then you still must sacrifice a creature.

zapyourtumor You were right, i realized Demilich wasn't doing as much as i thought when it comes to saving mana from its 1st ability & recycling instants/sorceries from the 2nd, as i think Blink of an Eye is better in recycling them. Same case goes for Plague Engineer in the sence of its usefulness overall so took them away. Thing in the Ice  Flip is a fantastic card & works well in my instant/sorcery heavy deck. I added it to main, would you recommend having a playset instead of 3? Liliana of the Veil is a pretty cool card & added it to sideboard, might even place it as main after some further paytesting. Thanks for your adivce!

wallisface You were right on my land count, I was commonly facing with landpool issues so i did make my land count higher to 24 and now i dont have that problem anymore. The meta in my city & surrounding areas are really monster-heavy so that was the reason I placed heavy hitting destroy spells such as Damnation but I saw your point, as it could be more of a disadvantage than anything. Took it off the main & added only 1 on sideboard. As for Mishra's Bauble i saw it wasn't doing as much as I anticipated, but then again im a noob at MTG still & i might have been using it wrong. Tbh i dont know why Lurrus of the Dream-Den was there i must have placed it by mistake so took it off lol. In general i switched the sideboard as much as the main in order to be more consistent. Twincast is there just for the lols & it has actually made pretty funny plays, i mean 2 is always better is it not?

In general i appreciate your advice both of you, and let me know what you think on the upgrade i just did. Im a returning player that took like a 10-year hiatus from MTG because life happened and im catching up, & this was a first try to a midrange-control-ish deck that i really want to work and make it as good as can be. Thanks!
