Burning Man

Legendary Creature - Zombie Cleric

Indestructible

At the beginning of your end step, for each player, put a rust counter on target permanent that player controls.

At the beginning of each player's upkeep, for each permanent with a rust counter on it they control, they sacrifice that permanent unless they pay for each rust counter on it.

Not sure if that challenge would work, because soulbond's rules are that creatures are paired. Although I think I have a work-around, that would require an errata to the rules text.

Kallis, Soul Exchanger

Legendary Planeswalker - Kallis

Soulbond (You may pair this planeswalker with another unpaired creature or planeswalker when either enters the battlefield. They remain paired for as long as you control both of them.)

+1 Put a +1/+1 or loyalty counter on a soulbonded target.

-3 Put a shield counter and a Ward counter on a soulbonded target.

-7 You get an emblem with "Whenever a soulbonded permanent you control leaves the battlefield, return it to your hand instead."

Obviously he's from Innistrad. Probably a priest who was attacked and almost lost his life idk

The group I play with is okay with proxies, so cost isn't a problem. I'm looking to see if there are cards I can swap out for better ones. I'm still pretty new, so I don't know how to do combos yet. If there is a combo, let me know. I would love to try it out!

Niko9 on Diabolic Revelation or Rune-Scarred Demon?

Hmm, I think in general I'd say Rune-Scarred Demon is better, but in your deck you have a lot of interaction and a lot of cards that are good for specific situations, and I actually think Diabolic Revelation might be better to set up multiple plays, or get something to counter another player and something to further your board at the same time.

I almost hate to suggest it because it may be too mean, but what do you think about something like Overburden or Mana Breach to load up opponent's hands with lands? Expel from Orazca is a favorite card of mine and might also work, return a card you want to play with Sen, or if in ascend, then it's brutal because you remove a threat and screw up their next draw.

Also, there's no way it works, but Patron of the Moon doesn't work with Sen Triplets does it? It does say your hand, so I assume you can't play lands with patron from an opponent's hand, but maybe? It would just be a fun play to bounce lands back to their hand and then jam them out on your field. Doubt it works, but hey, the patron kami's will get their day!

Kcin Thanks for the suggestions! Will probably pass on Rootha, as she just seems like too much of a mana commitment in my opinion, since she costs 5 on her own to double things, plus the cmc of my instant or sorcery.

Melek on the other hand, might be great for consistently getting 2 spells a turn, will at least maybeboard him for now till I can figure out a slot to free up for him. He might also be an enormous removal magnet lol, but what can ya do haha

Wittyinator on Skip Validiation/Adding cards that don't …

Hi there. Thanks for the reply.

I guess recent examples would be from Modern Horizon 3 spoilers, typically the ones I see on /r/magictcg. For example, the following are not yet found, roughly spoiled about 1-3 days ago.

Detective's Phoenix Disruptor Flute Guide of Souls Ocelot Pride Writhing Chrysalis

To be totally clear, I have no problem with delays with updating the card database. I definitely don't expect the team to keep immediately up to date with every card that gets spoiled, and make sure its added within hours. That wouldn't be reasonable at all. And on top of that, they are technically unconfirmed and unofficial spoilers as well.

But just functionality to be able to add plaintext to a decklist, that doesn't have to link back to a card in the database. I've personally found that nice to have when you see a spoiler that was released a couple minutes ago and immediately think "Yea I need to add that to my deck for sure" and you can quickly pop it in, even if it doesn't exist yet.

Cheers

Commander_JAR yeah pretty much! Red's pool of tutors is limited, but it's able to generate a ton of mana in a pinch. Sarkhan's Triumph exists and I was running it for a while before realizing that it's almost always worse than Dragonstorm if you're tutoring a 6+ mana dragon -- and that's if you tutor for only one dragon. There has been 0 times out of the last... 7? Games I've played with this deck where I haven't been able to get the storm count to 1 before casting it, which is just a solid rate overall (and is difficult to interact with/counterspell because storm is busted as a mechanic lol). If there's something like Mycosynth Lattice in play you'll get even more mana generated back with no further setup by tutoring for & swinging with Cavern-Hoard Dragon. That's pretty much the whole point of the deck; shenanigans which result in lots of treasures for shimatsu.

'Course, if you want to add more dragons like Scourge of Kher Ridges or Knollspine Dragon that can work too. I just never found the need for it myself since making treasures en-masse tends to be enough. Also exiling them to impulse draw is rough! The deck's land count is low for the same reason.

Love Niko, surprised that WotC hasn't done more with Shard tokens. Anyway I tried.

Rhadamanthus on Dryad of the Ilysian Grove …

No, you won't be able to play another land in that example. In the current rules, you determine whether or not you can play a land by comparing how many land plays the game currently says you have to how many you've already played this turn. If the Dryad is gone, you've already made a land play, and there isn't anything else giving you additional plays, then that's it.

Keep in mind that playing lands doesn't use the stack and the active player gets priority again after a spell resolving, so if you want to go land-Dryad-land or Dryad-land-land, there's no opportunity for an opponent to "respond" by killing your Dryad before you play your second land. If you do something else in-between the Dryad and that second land, however, then the opponent will be able to respond with something.

Some previous versions of the rules allowed you to specify which "drop" you were using as you played each land, but it allowed for unintuitive situations where a player could use the additional drop, blink the object that was giving it, and then use its additional drop again. It was an odd and somewhat complicated rules quirk that was smoothed out when the rules for land plays were revised to the current version.

My Dandan decks with 4+ copies of the same card are marked as "Not Dandan legal" which is obviously incorrect, given that the format has no deck restrictions at all, let alone a card limit of 4, since the original deck has 10 copies of Dandan. Examples of decks marked illegal: Tempo/Good Dandân by BradenMTG, Wrath Wrath by Harrison Fang, and Owling Mirror by me.

Draw hinges mostly on the large amount of creatures and repeatedly drawing them off the top. When it works it works very well, if it doesn't, it's clunky. Draw and ramp is something I'm tweaking right now, tbf. I don't think mana fixing is a huge problem in my experience up until now. Good suggestions, I'll consider them; thanks for your comment! =)

I really like Sudden Spoiling, but you're right, since it doesn't destroy anything, it doesn't fit so well in a deck, that wants to destroy... ^^

But I like that the card affects ALL enemy creatures... All my Sorceries and Instants destroy just 1 card, so I dont get any card advantage... Do you know some cards, that fit in my deck and destroy multible targets?

As for the hub things I suspect there's a bug where the backend isn't properly auto-creating the hubs for all the subtypes and keywords. Gates for example should pop up amongst the tickboxes.

We have disabled some of the little-used formats yes. You can't make any decks of heirloom, hero, noble, quest magic rpg (that's reserved for the decks running the rpg now) nor penny dreadful. But it doesn't make sense to break existing decks with those formats so they'll stay as they are.

As for the bright red stuff apparently there was a bug with "Is casual" flag for our formats. It's supposed to just make everything legal. But apparently it was doing diddly squat. If that becomes fixed a lot of these casual formats should stop being all red.

zapyourtumor on B/R Deathtouch Destruction

Heroes downfall is too expensive, it used to be playable in modern like 5 years ago but since then the format has gotten faster. You just cant afford to run a 3 mana creature/planeswalker only removal spell anymore, if your opponent plays a ragavan turn 1 its pretty much dead in hand. Even in more casual settings I'd argue its still way too clunky, especially if you only have 19 lands.

Sudden spoiling is a funny card, its good against timmy decks but its 3 mana and doesnt actually remove any creatures permanently. Maybe I am underestimating the card a bit, but 4 is definitely too much I'd play 2 at most.

legendofa on Small Update: New Formats, New …

I'm going to work on hub inventory in the very near future, so I'll see what's going on with those hubs.

Kind of disappointing that Horde Magic doesn't get any love... There's a handful of genuine Horde Magic format decks, but yeah, it's overwhelmingly misused. I'd like to think it would survive better as one of the niche format options.

I promise I'm not trying to be too petty re:Horde Magic, but formats like Heirloom and Noble don't seem to have even any legal cards, let alone legal decks. I just quickly skimmed some formats I didn't recognize, and those two stood out as having apparently no interaction on this site in over a decade, filled entirely with bright red decklists.

Trying to be proactive instead of just complaining, is there a way to remove or disable some of the little-used formats, and would anyone be upset if the format options were cleaned up?

Please can you explain, why Sudden Spoiling and Hero's Downfall are not playable in Modern? I thought they are good cards... In my oppinion Sudden Spoiling is such a powerfull card, and its an Instant, so I can use it for both attack and defense

Once I had 4x Blightning in my deck, but I needed the place for other cards... Its a cool card, but yeah, you're right... with just 1 card like that unfortunately it doesnt fit well anymore in my deck. I will cut it
