Does this creature retain its ability after losing its creature type?

Asked by Quickspell 3 months ago

  1. I have Clavileno, First of the Blessed on the battlefield.
  2. I also have Conspiracy on the battlefield, choosing Vampire.
  3. I take control of an opponent’s non-Vampire creature (somehow).
  4. I attack with that creature that is a Vampire under my control due to Conspiracy.
  5. Clavileno triggers, making that creature a demon and giving it a death-trigger-ability.
  6. My opponent regains control of that creature.

Not being under my control anymore, that creature is not a vampire anymore. Is it still a demon, and does it still have the gained death-trigger-ability?

If yes, and if it dies, do who draws the card and creates the token? I guess my opponent, is correct?

You have the right idea. It is still a Demon but not a Vampire and still has the ability. Changing control causes Conspiracy's effect to stop applying but doesn't cause the type-changing and ability-adding effects of Clavileno's ability to stop applying. When the creature dies, whoever controls it at the time (probably your opponent, unless you find a way to steal it again) will control the trigger and will get the card and token.
