Suffering and Restoration

Modern* Budget Lifegain Tokens

JEVanAllen

The old phrase "strength in numbers" rings true in the ears of this deck. Bring out some early life gain with Soul Warden. Follow that with some quick muscle in the form of Ajani's Pridemate. Then sit back and watch that cat do reps at the gym and get stronger and stronger as your opponents play creatures (gaining you life, and your growing kitten, counters). Cathars' Crusade + Elspeth, Sun's Champion is a main combo in this deck. Your numbers will grow quickly, and so will the strength of those numbers. Raise the Alarm should suffice if Elspeth decides not to show her face for a few games. Return to the Ranks ensures a quick recovery in the event that your Soul Warden(s) or Ajani's Pridemate(s) are killed. Wall of Limbs is a great early-game defender to have in this deck, as your near-constant lifegain will allow it to grow stronger very quickly, thus giving you the opportunity to sacrifice it to cause serious loss of life (NOT DAMAGE) to opponents. Rhox Faithmender just adds some icing to the cake. Batwing Brume is a fun one to toss into the face of an opponent if they attack you with a huge number of tokens of their own. They will not likely be expecting its black effect (Each player loses 1 life for each attacking creature he or she controls). Suture Priest is another fun card to help you feel in control of things; "lose a life" became one of my favorite phrases to throw out during games. Be careful, though, as it also tends to tick opponents off (with great power comes great responsibility, so use your power wisely). Reciprocate & Devouring Light should help you get rid off annoying creatures your opponents control (their exile capabilities help to bypass creatures with "indestructible"). Be warned: this deck does NOT do well against mill. If you are playing an opponent with a strong mill factor, then I suggest you come up with a good side-deck to counter them (I welcome any suggestions for said side-deck).
