"War has changed. It's no longer about nations, ideologies, or ethnicity... it's an endless series of proxy battles fought by mercenaries and machines. War, and its consumption of life, has become a well-oiled machine. War has changed."

This is mostly just a passion project deck I want to make. I'm a huge fan of the Metal Gear Solid franchise and seeing a card done by one of the artists has me excited to brew up a deck, which pairs nicely with my personal love of artifacts as a card type. Obviously a work in progress - it may or may not shift as I playtest it and as new cards are revealed.

The idea is to have some signature cards in the deck representing major Metal Gear figures, and the game plan is to Ninjutsu out big Metal Gears (artifact creatures) to smash your opponents' faces before they know what hit them. To make this deck both on-theme and make it a bit more friendly to my opponents, I've opted to not run any of the typical one-drop unblockable creatures and instead have replaced them with low-cost artifact creatures that have some sort of evasion (flying, activated unblockability, pseudo-flying, etc.).

A whole bunch of notable, well-fitting characters and Metal Gears from the franchise show up as alters in this deck, too many at this point to list easily! The first batch made on CardConjurer was before they had to update their website, so they're in true Magic card style, while the second batch was made using their new default card template (with a bit of customization). The following tokens are also custom-made:

• 6/12 Construct as a quadruped-form Peace Walker - created by Peace Walker/Ancient Stone Idol.
• 3/3 Golems with Vigilance, Flying, and Trample as Pupa, Chrysalis, and Cocoon respectively - created by Triplicate Titan.
• 1/1 Myr as Dwarf Gekko AKA Tripods - created by Gekko/Myr Battlesphere.
• 3/3 Phyrexian Golems as Raptors (the dinosaur-looking enemies from Metal Gear Rising) - created by EXCELSUS/Phyrexian Triniform.
• 1/1 colorless Thopters as UA Drones from Metal Gear Solid V - created by Otacon/Sai, Master Thopterist and Thopter Spy Network.
• 1/1 blue Thopters as Sliders from Metal Gear Solid 4 - created by Raging Raven/Sharding Sphinx.

Also one random fun fact I'm proud of with my alters: the alters for Solid Snake (Krydle) and Liquid Snake (Memnarch) use the same image of Solid and Liquid standing back to back, the other is barely visible at the edge of the card. This means the art of the two cards on the battlefield at the same time lines up and makes one image.
