Relentless Rats are cool, tempting, and innovators as far as the whole any-number-in-your-deck ability is concerned. At three mana apiece, though, they're way too slow to ever work competitively. The first time you drop your glorified Scathe Zombies and your opponent spends his three mana on Leatherback Baloth, you'll know what I mean. So what if instead of three mana for a 2/2... you spent three mana for ten 12/12s with haste? Yeah, that's more like it.

Our answer lies in the somewhat obtuse Bloodbond March: play a rat and you can immediately pull any number of rats from your graveyard right into play. With most creatures, that might mean the best you can hope for is one or maybe two free bodies. When you have twenty of the same creature, though? Get the guest room ready!

Commune with the Gods and Benefaction of Rhonas can fill your graveyard while grabbing the March. If you already have one, you can grab Concordant Crossroads to let your army immediately go off once they assemble, or Nantuko Shrine as a nice insurance policy - how does a dozen free squirrels with your order sound?
