Maybeboard

This is my fifth attempt at a Korvold combos list. He's an awesome commander that facilitates a lot of options. The goal of this list is to build him from a jund binder as a solid 8. To that end, we want to keep the king fed and happy, jund out the opponents, and win with one of our sweet combo lines.

Korvold is a hungry boy and we are happiest if we can get immediate value out of him, swing every turn, and generate incidental value. To that end, token producers which provide food once per turn allow us to attack consistently. These include Awakening Zone, Gilded Goose, Dreadhorde Invasion, Creakwood Liege, and Squee, Goblin Nabob. Some of these produce tokens with immediate value when sacrificed such as extra mana. Other sources of sustenance include more repeatable or higher value engines such as Genesis Chamber, Bloodghast, Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder, Bridge from Below, Curse of Opulence, and Meren of Clan Nel Toth.
Jund just has a particular feel and its rather satisfying. While our engine hums right along, we can use targeted removal to handle the few things which we might find annoying. The colors provide us access to some graveyard recursion, cards that snipe problematic creatures, planeswalkers, artifacts, enchantments, lands, and presumably any other type of permanent yet to be printed, some sweepers, card advantage, and decent protection for our permanent based combos. I cannot emphasize how broken Barrier Breach is enough.

Cabal Therapist and Cabal Therapy are comical includes. They synergize well with Korvold and allow us to check if the coast is clear to go for the gold. If you know your playgroup well, blind naming scary cards is fairly profitable. Visit your therapist and remember to talk about your issues with consistent token generation.

"LuL, 1 for 1 me in commander bro," is what players tend to say just before they lose their only good permanent... and the die.

Korvold's horde includes a ludicrous number of options for finishers and advantage. Most of these are well known or dream finishers that are now outdated in other formats. Sample lines include:

Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + Zealous Conscripts or Hyrax Tower Scout, though the conscripts add the additional value of feeding your opponents precious babies to the king.

Meren of Clan Nel Toth + Spore Frog, come at me bro.

Sac outlet + Melira, Sylvok Outcast + Persist Creature. This has a few options. Sylvan Safekeeper+Viscera Seer+card:Zulaport Cuttthroat+Putrid Goblin combined with Melira is a whole Protean Hulk worth of victory that drains the table out. Just remember to eat Korvold too. Murderous Redcap is too expensive to Hulk the whole combo out but with a sac outlet on board, its a tasty classic. If your outlet is Ashnod's Altar, infinite mana can be generated which brings us to...

Animate Dead + Worldgorger Dragon , why not? Two routes to infinite mana far cheaper than that goblin ticket scabber and his kitty, which don't depend on our opponents' boards, let us fuel lethal Torment of Hailfires.

A big Korvold + Chandra's Ignition allows our king to let a big one rip, most likely killing all the creatures and opponents. Been there after Thanksgiving. Very relatable.

Another option for setting farts ablaze is a continuously less expensive 3 slot method for making combat a nightmare for our opponents: Dark Depths and Vampire Hexmage or Thespian's Stage

The beauty of Korvold combos is that the majority of our pieces are useful in a number of corner cases on their own as well as being extravagant finishers.

I've played around with the deck for a while now and a number of people have figured Korvold out. With this build, be sure to solitaire a decent amount. This will help you decide on your lines and timing more quickly and consistently. We are murdering our opponents with combos, best not to drag it out.

Scheming Symmetry is obviously not an ideal tutor but it is a fun one. If you can follow it up with Mishra's Bauble or some good old fashioned psychoanalysis, you'll enjoy the satisfaction of comboing off with perfect information. Korvold is a man with many plans.

The deck is interactive and for the most part, Korvold just makes it easier to reach our main combos. Its best to save playing him until you can generate some immediate value through something like card:Sylan Safekeeper. The king is scary and your opponents will rudely remove him. Such a lack of manners is intolerable but to be expected.

Melira, Sylvok Outcast is the least replaceable piece of her lines. We have back up sac outlets and a backup persist creature. Time Melira carefully.

5-7 protective spells are reasonable to have. The static classics light Lightning Greaves offer high versatility but if your playgroup is pretty blue, it will be naturally practical to add a few anti-counters. Proactive protection is probably your best choice since you can feed it to the king when you don't need it and if the opponents spend their mana and removal on your protection then it has already served double duty. Try to cover a range of possible interactions with 2-3 cards per scenario to dodge the feel-bads. "Oh I see, you're teching against MY deck." -_-

When Rancor gets sacrificed, it just comes right back to hand :D

Be wary of angels who hate sacrificing. Anti-hexproof cards are rather reasonable if those... nice ladies... are present in your playgroup.

If you know a mill player, Gaea's Blessing or an eldrazi titan are sweet for this list.

Mulligan for green mana. Its a green deck in commander, that's rule number 1.

Just check a cEDH list or video. There are a number of pricey auto includes which I wouldn't run. This deck cost me about 200 euro to build and it runs like a dream. I wouldn't take 3 damage every upkeep or generate infinite mana with no payoff without a seriously good reason. If you're into that, go for it :D. That said, fetch lands would be a great idea...
If you build something like this, I hope you have a blast (like a 30/30 Korvold's ignited bum)! I'd appreciate suggestions, especially if the card has weird art and an old border. Stories of cool jund-commander interactions are also always welcome.
