Time to transcribe my most beloved deck: My knight deck.
The motto is: "We have everything to kill you with. Too bad our armor is too heavy to fly in."
It all started as a cheap 19 EUR duel deck (Knights vs Dragons) when I was a freshman-player. After 1 year of playing I realized the potential of a knight tribal. After a few minor updates the deck was quite non competitive. Then I got a wish come-true: I got 4x
Hero of Bladehold
for my birthday (thank you guys!!!!). And then everything went down-hill; for my wallet that is. Major updates with
Asceticism
, more
Kinsbaile Cavalier
s, and destroyals, and more knights.
Now it is one those decks that my friends always seem to get the reaction of "Sigh.. Not that again"-look. If everything succeeds the knights should have everything apart from flying and color protection; they should have:
- Indestructible
- First Strike/Double Strike
- Vigilance
- Trample
- Infect
- Reach
- Hexproof
- Regenerate
Now if that is not a recipe for awesomeness, I don't know what is.
Obviously I could go for an
Akroma's Memorial
or
True Conviction
as well. Perhaps in the future when I can spend some more mana.. I mean money on the deck it might happen. But it is already very effective so why bother. Those cards are also very high CMC, which I try to avoid having
Asceticism
as the highest at 5 CMC.
For those who want to test this deck: You MUST - and I stress the MUST - have 3 lands in your opening hand to get this to work, and preferably also a
Knight of Meadowgrain
. Otherwise you might get stuck; with 3 lands you can play most of the cards creating a buffer to get the win-conditions.
Feel free to comment and give feedback. But don't expect any sudden changes; this deck already cost me way too much.
Highest on my wishlist for this deck is to get my hands on the incredible
Fiendslayer Paladin
. Then this will be "complete" in my eyes.
UPDATE: As of 11 May 2021, my beloved knight deck will get dismantled. It contains way too many great cards for commander in a deck that is neither modern legal nor legacy efficient. Thanks and goodbye!
