There is something rotten in the state of the Imperium, and that carrion reek draws forth an intergalactic evil!

This is my first ever Temur deck! I decided to get the deck:Tyranid Swarm Precon because I was interested in starting my second active commander deck.

Updates

The strengths I see here are that we have a decent amount of card draw which we have leaned into more heavily than ramp cards. The ability to pump +1/+1 counters and give them trample gives us a way to hopefully overpower the opponent. We also have a smattering or red damage spells in case we need to finish off opponents.

The weaknesses I see here are that we are pretty light on things like hexproof, which means targeted destruction and board wipes will be an issue. At 34 creatures I am hoping that we will be able to dig deep into the roster and continue fighting even as the board is chipped away.

A lot of changes here to go over. The first rendition of this deck had some issues, including too little ramp and too high of a curve to play quickly. The goals of this deck are refined to the following:

  • Double dip X cost spells with our commander
  • Play creatures that scale in strength relative to our ramp
  • Burn smaller creatures and players to offset the incubation period

We are achieving the first goal by upping the number of useful X cast spells here. The natural question is "Why not more Hydras?" and fundamentally, I am not sold that we need them at the expense of the Tyranid tribe. However there was a fit for a pair of them, which we have included. The second goal we are achieving by pushing the higher end of ramp and draw, especially with the ravenous mechanic many Tyranids have. Finally burn is showing up in some instants and sorceries, in addition to some creatures.
