Chatterfang and his loyal mighty cute troopers

Commander / EDH BG (Golgari) Squirrel Tokens

mirror_to70

Heyjo, this is my first EDH-Deck with Chatterfang as Commander.

The main goal is to add one squirrel token for each token (e.g. fruit token etc.). With this army of 1/1's you try to overrun your opponents.

Cards like Gilded Goose could be very nice even in the late game, because you create a food token and a squirrel. Sometimes even more, if one of the "doubling token" enchantments are on the field (Parallel Lives,Doubling Season or Primal Vigor). And on top of that, if there is an Academy Manufactor on your side of the field -> oh boy, get your calculator, your little squirrel troopers will overpower everything :).

The manabase is in my oppinion a bit exaggerated (esp. for my first edh-deck), i think this deck doesn´t need so much fast mana. The Gaea's Cradle is for me a "dream come true" and of course very useful in this creature-based deck, indeed! Old boarderd basic foil lands are a must have!

Some "oldschool" cards like Harrow,Nature's Lore or Crop Rotation. Especially crop rotation is a very nice tutor for e.g. Gaea's Cradle.Crucible of Worlds benefits with the fetchlands.

At the beginning there were classic´s like "read the bones" and "sign in blood". They were removed for Foreboding Fruit and Promise of Power, because there is the chance to create tokens. And "Promise of Power" is like the "card of demise" from Yu-Gi-Oh in my oppinion :) .

Absolutly "standard", nothing more. Maybe i switch to mass removal + token generator, but for now it´s all good.

reason: All the squirrel´s are 1/1´s, so Pendelhaven can be a nice buff. Also it enters the battlefield untapped (no downside, although one less "fetchable" basic land...)

reason: Arasta generates tokens, but only as reaction if the opponents play spells. The Ruthless Knave generates two treasure tokens, should be working very fine with Academy Manufactor.

reason: Skyshroud Claim costs one mana more, but it could fetch two untapped lands.

reason: No Command Tower in a commander deck? Nope!

reason: Pest Infestation can removal targets AND generate tokens. Perfect.

reason: Food token + Academy Manufactor...nothing more to say. Comes in play untapped if possible.

reason: Conduit of Worlds is another Crucible of Worlds. Two tutor´s ans Crucible of Worlds should be enough. Peregrin generate food tokens, could combo with other cards. By the way, big LotR fan.

reason: Better fetchable land in nearly every aspect. "No-Brainer".

reason: Just for the flavour :) .

reason: I think Cultivate is far more constant than Burgeoning. No extra lands on hand or extreme good card draw = no benefits from Burgeoing.

reason: More combo-potential and faster than Lake of the Dead (tapped; sac. a swamp as extra costs...).

reason: I call him the small brother from Tireless Provisioner, create token = create value. Extra land drops are nice, but same as Burgeoning...

reason: Love the Nut Collector for the flavour. But the Deep Forest Hermit is stronger in every aspect!
