Big Black Yarok

is a Sultai EDH deck built around Yarok, the Desecrated.

Keeping the balance

What I love about this deck is the perfect mixture between power and fun. As soon you hit a good start by getting him out early, nobody's stopping you burying opponents with ETB's and Landfall-Triggers. And that's also the only flaw: Getting confused and missing gigantic amounts of triggers.

Everything you'll ever do in MTG will happen with one of both mechanics: Controlling the board, drawing more cards than Kev Walker, ramping and finally closing out the game.

Cloning and Flicker effects will increase value and variety to your game actions by reusing those creatures who would've just been chump-blockers otherwise.

Tutors are mainly creature-only to get their impact directly on board.

There are not more than 5 non-synergy staple cards and no infinite combos built into the deck to keep fun and power balanced - my personal preferred way approaching the EDH-format.

Powerwise I would give a 7-8 out 10. I've never tracked the win rate or something but I've played many games against various decks and power levels. If I had to guess I would say I've won ~40% of those games. Adding staples/more tutors and/or combos would get this deck to a maximum of 9/10 at best.

Fun-wise I give a 9/10. Constantly getting insane value even out of mediocre cards and being THE threat at the table because the deck is functioning very well makes it so enjoyable. High synergy and the low staple count does even add onto the fun factor. The broad build of the deck is also a big upside because in the future you can still update this deck with new released ETB-cards. But: Long ass turns caused by high complexity of the deck and missing gigantic amounts of triggers when unfocused CAN cause unfun situations. Also being a target to your opponents most of the time can be stressful. In this case you can see both, upsides and downsides.
