TheSnuggleLord Great weekend here! Hope yours was as well, always fun to finish up some decks and get to test them out. After reading through this latest comment, I immediately realized some changes cards I should swap for ones that I was wanting to try that I, quite frankly, just forgot had already gotten here in the deluge of other TCGPlayer orders (thank God for the cart optimization, but holy hell it keeps my mailbox full).

So UPDATE 3.1: Swapped out Phyrexian Broodlings and Drudge Skeletons with Bloodflow Connoisseur and Crypt Rats.

I gotta say, I do love the broodlings. But saving that one mana is absolutely worth it. I might end up sideboarding them for now, just to see if there is a situation, I might want both in the deck. Although with the last few games, I don't think that'll be likely. With Drudge Skeletons, it just really comes down to hardly ever finding it worth it to save that one mana to block with them and regen. Crypt Rats gives me a bit of a nuke option for token decks and is a nice addition to the abilities Necrotic Ooze can access if the rats are sacked or just milled and aren't worth pulling out of the grave.

At the moment, I'm also testing having Unmarked Grave in place of Cling to Dust (a card a found myself using more often for draws than anything else, and can't really justify an entire slot just for one card draw per game), Rune-Scarred Demon in place of Harvester of Souls, Viscera Seer in place of Okiba Reckoner Raid  Flip, Buried Alive in place of Gravedigger (With all the graveyard pulls I have, one to the hand for a 4 drop didn't seem to justify its place, even if it can be pulled itself from the grave), and Haunted Crossroads in place of Unhinge (a card that just never seems to have a good time to use for the cost).

Haha, yeah, I've been learning the hard way about the struggles of mono black against graveyard hate. The game's I've done the best against the deck with it really have come down to just trying to maintain board control. Something that has been hard against token heavy decks, but I'm hoping having another answer, in the form of Crypt Rats, will help with that side of things at least. I'm for sure going to keep my eye on the new cards next month. Excited to see if anything would fit in this deck, or any of the others I've started working on.

I honestly had no clue so many of the cards had art that directly tied into lore from the mtg universe. I spilled down a small Rabit hole after reading your comment on that, and holy heck it's so cool to see. Really does add an entire new layer to consider when deck building!

BishopAtavist Thank you for the comment, and I agree! Milling is normally not something I would go for in a deck like this, but it's sort of a fun risky strategy to use during some games of commander and can for sure speed up the process of feeding the graveyard. Cards like Sadistic Glee still get to proc from creatures sent to the graveyard this way as well, so that's an added bonus. Additionally, at least in my playtesting, I seem to have included more than enough ways to get creatures out of graveyards. So even if a few good cards are lost this way, you should still have plenty of options further in the deck. As far as Buried Alive, It's only in the maybe deck because I haven't gotten the card in the mail yet haha. It'll be thrown in, likely in place of Unhinge, as soon as it gets here!

TheSnuggleLord I appreciate the feedback! I for sure want to keep using sheoldred, even if it's not ideal for this deck. I'd probably switch her out in situations where I'm not playing with friends, since forcing sacs seems like a good way to put a target on myself. But for more casual situations it's been pretty fun haha. I actually got a copy of Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth with the intention of using it in a dimir deck later. I hadn't at all made the connection that in would enable swamp walk. That is actually beautiful, I'm going to throw that in the deck tonight!!

Poison the Cup for sure seems like a good swap in for something like Eaten Alive, since I have enough other ways to sac, and otherwise the cost is the same. So, you're definitely right, having it A) potentially split the cost between 2 turns, and B) be safe from removal by opponents, makes for a great removal spell to have in the deck.

I think I actually ordered a copy of Gravepurge in one of my larger orders in the last week or two, it might have just been lost in the stack of cards I've been considering for the deck. I'll for sure have to reconsider it.

I do like that combo that Bolas's Citadel and Bone Harvest or Gravepurge could pull. At this point I need to work on a side deck of sorts to keep track of all of the potential combos or cards I want to try. There are so many options here, and the hardest part now is choosing what to set aside when trying out the other options haha.

Thanks again both of you for the comments!! Looking forward to further refining this deck, and maybe creating a fork of it with another commander!

it does feel mana symbol rmana symbol b especially because the +1 feels like a cross between Daretti, Scrap Savant/Liliana, the Last Hope

i could see the balance of the +1 involving "you may discard a card, then upto one target creature gets -x/-x where x is the number of cards you discarded this turn. similar to Warped Physique

given the theme (assuming it stays mana symbol umana symbol b), the -2 feels a bit generic/jace based. It could be shifted towards an Unhinge style effect.
