Tar Snare

Instant

Target creature gets -3/-2 until end of turn.

Unfortunately, Prophet of Distortion, Blighted Cataract, Adverse Conditions & Cryptic Cruiser are all uncommons only, and therefore not pauper legal.

Crumbling Vestige could replace the land, maybe. otherwise I would just go up to 4x Evolving Wilds because it combos so nicely with Brainstorm.

I would put those 3 Slip Through Spaces in place of the 3 Adverse Conditions.

Instead of the Prophet, maybe do +1 Sludge Crawler, +1 Salvage Drone and +1 Benthic Infiltrator?

Grasp of Darkness (was printed as a common previously) will be more effective than Tar Snare (and probably just as hard/easy to cast), but there's also Terror and Unsummon/Vapor Snag to consider.

I'm just curious, what made you pick Tar Snare? Over like, Murder or Grasp of Darkness?

Try Grasp of Darkness over Tar Snare as it is way more efficient.

What's fun with your deck, you do not have to play SOI cards. First, you need to limit your deck to 60 cards and play max 23 lands.

Cards to cut:

Cards like Languish/Mutilate will help as well as be board resets against aggro. There are single target options too like Tar Snare.

Haven't really dealt with W/B Allies,but I can give a few suggestions.

Drana, Liberator of Malakir:Great 2/3 Princess that can give +1/+1 counters to each attacking creature.

Grasp of Darkness:Far better than Tar Snare.

Munda's Vanguard:Also helps boost your creatures.

Relief Captain:His Support ability also helps buff your creatures.

Shoulder to Shoulder:Another great Support card that lets you draw.

Retreat to Emeria:Lets your get 1/1 Kor Allies.

Always Watching :A maybe, but helps buff your creatures and gives them Vigilance.

Gideon, Ally of Zendikar:Another great card, but I tried not to suggest him due to budget reasons.

These suggestions aren't the best, but I'd recommend just playing Casually first before getting into Competitive.Try and familiarize yourself with other cards in Magic.Drana, Liberator of Malakir and Gideon, Ally of Zendikar are expensive, but maybe one day, once you get the funds. The others are budget. They may could help you.

P.S:I don't even have Gideon or Drana myself.I love Drana, but she's 15$.It's hard to fund MTG when you're sixteen with no job.

Evaluating cards without knowing the set can be a problem. Here is a cautionary tale.

A problem I recently had (partially fostered by the hosts of Limited Resources confirming my erroneous evaluation of the card int heir set review) in recent sets was Unnatural Aggression. For those that have played a lot of BFZ-BFZ-BFZ, you might have realized the card wasn't very good. In OGW-OGW-BFZ it got a bit better (mostly because now it's not embarrassing to have forests in your deck) but I will still try to play zero copies of it if I can help it.

When BFZ started, I was picking Unnatural Aggression as one of the best green commons (maybe the best, not sure). We had had a number of common fighting cards in the past, and they had ranged from very good (Prey Upon, Pit Fight, Epic Confrontation, Savage Punch) to ok (Hunt the Weak, Wild Instincts), and when looking at the spoiler there was no indication that Unnatural Aggression was going to be as bad as it was. It took me a few drafts to counter my expectation and stop putting Unnatural Aggression in my green decks.

Shortly afterwards I stopped playing green decks altogether in that format, but that's beside the point.

At this moment Fiery Temper lives in a similar space. 3 mana for 3 damage with minor upside have always been very good in recent times (Touch of the Void and Bolt of Keranos were both in the short list for best red common in the set) and in this case we get that at instant speed and with an upside that is pretty major ("can be Lightning Bolt"), but it's still possible, though unlikely, that every common is a 2/4 and it does not kill anything (kinda like now everything is a 2/3 and that's why Reality Hemorrhage and Tar Snare are not great - fine, but not great).

Just FYI - If you happen to have to make that first pick again, pick Eldrazi Displacer. On top of rebuying ETB effects, Displacer can also act as a pseudo-removal spell since it can tap down your opponent's creatures, and save your guys from removal. I think it might be the best white card in the set (with the possible exception of Munda's Vanguard).

I definitely wouldn't pick a Tar Snare over it - I have found it to remove very little since basically every common in the set is a 2/3 and I am usually happy if my deck has zero copies of the card in it.
