Crashing Tide incorrectly has the Tribal type.

Suggestions to consider -
Mainboard:
-1 Essence Capture , +1 Quench , -1 Growth Spiral , +1 Forest
Sideboard:
-1 Quench , -1,2,3,4 Applied Biomancy ? Maybe something more toolbox oriented? Better threat answers?

What about any of the following?
Enter the Unknown , Kumena's Speaker , Mistcaller (are token decks an issue?), Pelt Collector , Stony Strength , Entrancing Melody , Essence Scatter , Elvish Rejuvenator , District Guide , Crashing Tide , Song of Freyalise , Thrashing Brontodon

From the merfolk builds I've seen I would recommend Spell Pierce or Dive Down dropping a vanquisher's banner or two would open up your draws and lower your mana curve maybe both the jace's especially if your going for a really explosive and aggressive early game win. You have 5 wizards to make Wizard's Retort relatively cheap and would help you protect your board from wrath's or settle the wreckage. I'd recommend not dumping out your hand and keeping a couple of merfolk to rebuild because aggressive decks have a hard time rebuilding from no cards in hand after a wrath. Maybe sideboard a River's Rebuke but Sleep is the better crash in card. tempo cards like Blink of an Eye and Crashing Tide or Expel from Orazca. Otherwise I like where your head is at brewing this up I hope you have fun playing it.

This deck is split two ways that don't really compliment each other. You have the value-oriented Blue-Green goodstuff, a great place for Tishana, and also have some merfolk tribal cards tossed in, despite only having 20 merfolk, you have 15 cards that want you to have merfolk. I'd suggest switching your commander for Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca and add more merfolk instead of the equipment and non-merfolk creatures, and drop the +1/+1 counter theme with cards like Bioshift, or move into the Blue-Green Value list, drop the merfolk tribal, and all of the less-than-great merfolk, and run more mana dorks like Llanowar Elves, Fyndhorn Elves, Birds of Paradise, Arbor Elf, Boreal Druid, Elvish Mystic, etc. to quickly cast Tishana and refill your hand.

You could also just go +1/+1 counters, but that doesn't synergize heavily with your list, considering only two cards of your even can have +1/+1 counters, your commander and Prime Speaker Zegana.

Cards to drop no matter what really would be Bioshift, Mu Yanling, Quietus Spike, Levitation, Pause for Reflection, Cancel, Exclude, Sage of Ancient Lore  Flip, Might of the Masses, Treasure Hunt, and Crashing Tide

For more countermagic, Arcane Denial is really good, as is Swan Song, more removal would be like Beast Within, Song of the Dryads, and Imprisoned in the Moon the last two of which can turn off commanders, because you are just enchanting them, but they aren't leaving anywhere. They also lose all other types and abilities as they turn into lands, so they are effectively useless.

Well, Metallic Mimic is not Standard legal anymore, neither is Nissa, Steward of Elements+1 Merfolk Mistbinder, + 3 Deeproot Waters -2 Crashing Tide, - Tempest Caller + 2 River's Rebuke, -4 Jade Bearer, maybe +3 Blink of an Eye as a bouncer or Merfolk Branchwalker for filter/ Manafix... Good Luck with your Queer build!

I like this. I am also trying out a 'not 30+ fish" Merfolk deck. Is Crashing Tide an effective card?

Neotrup on unsummon vs. Heroic Intervention resolutions

The target of a spell needs to be legal when it is cast, and when it tries to resolve.

If your opponent casts Unsummon targeting your creature and you respond with Heroic Intervention the spell will fizzle (be put into the graveyard with no effect).

If your opponent casts Crashing Tide targeting your creature and you respond with Heroic Intervention the spell will fizzle, neither returning your creature nor letting you draw a card.

If you cast a spell and your opponent responds with Lost in the Mist targeting both your spell and your creature, and you respond with Heroic Intervention, the spell will not fizzle as it still has a legal target (your spell). Because one of the targets is illegal, it will only do what it can ignoring that illegal target, in this case countering your spell, but not returning your creature.

First of all, the TappedOut competitive meter is broken (You can make a new deck with no cards in it and it will be rated as 85%). Don't pay any attention to it.

On to the actual deck: two of the best merfolk in this format are Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca and Jadelight Ranger. I see you have two Kumena, but you could go with three or even four of them. The Ranger is pricey, but is an amazing card that should be a four-of. Another good card is Merfolk Branchwalker. You should also up the Adepts to four copies, as it is a very good card. Merfolk need good draw, because most of the time you'll be dumping your hand very early in the game. Forerunner of the Heralds can act as copies five and six for Kumena and the Adepts as well, and will soon become a powerful threat on it's own. If I were you, I'd cut the River Sneaks, Tempest Callers, and Curious Obsessions. You may also want to consider Aquatic Incursion in place of some of the Deeproot Waters. Most of your merfolk have the potential to become huge, and making them unblockable as well can mean a quick end for your opponent. Finally, Botanical Sanctum is strictly better than Woodland Stream.

For a sideboard, Kopala, Warden of Waves is excellent against targeted removal. Some amount of Blossoming Defense, Dive Down, and/or Heroic Intervention is also a good idea, and could even find it's way into the mainboard. Crashing Tide is great pseudo-removal, and it can be used to save your own creatures in a pinch (Unsummon is cheaper, but doesn't draw you a card) or be used to abuse ETB triggers. Of course, Naturalize is a sideboard staple as well, and Panharmonicon could lead to some ridiculous plays. Swift Warden is effectively Defense on a stick, and is still a merfolk. Seafloor Oracle could be used as extra draw if you see yourself doing lots of combat damage. Unfortunately, is lacking in permanent removal, and there's not much you can do about that, outside of splashing for Fatal Push and similar. However, you do have the advantage of playing counterspells such as Negate, Essence Scatter, and Spell Pierce. Finally, another "lord" effect for you is Metallic Mimic, which also synergizes well with Hadana's Climb  Flip.

Hopefully these suggestions help, and if you have any questions, feel free to let me know!
