Broken Fall

Enchantment

Return Broken Fall to its owner's hand: Regenerate target creature.

How will you enable Erinis to attack without getting murdered by a 4/4? Or four 1/1's? Anara, Wolvid Familiar, Vigor, Alpha Authority, Regeneration, Broken Fall, Rogue's Passage and things like these might help. (I see the Saddle there, thats a good choice).

carpecanum omg I think I have been playing those Broken Fall cards wrong. I can put them down, then the regenerate is something I then activate afterward at any time? I was playing them similarly to sorceries that are enchant type omg facepalm. I thought I had to put them back to my hand immediately. Omg yes those are so much better in that case.

I have copies of both the large changelings but I havent really decided yet on if I want them. I am sort of building the deck in a couple directions, this version for my LGS which is pretty hardcore, and a more combat focused and combo-removed version for my chill friends. Definately they would make it into the second version though. I hadn't really payed enough attention but they honestly aren't any more expensive CMC-wise than some of the frogs such as Omnibian I hadn't been considering them seriously enough I dont think.

Interesting idea with Bubble Matrix. I had never seen that one before. Vigor also is... an interesting card. It seems very powerful, but at such a high CMC cost I would really have to think if by then I even need it. It's third ability definately makes it hard to get unless the exile overrides it's last ability.

Thanks for the tips! I am definately going to do another update after I get some more games in.

Broken Fall can absolutely be activated on an opponent's turn.

Shuko works the same as Lightning Greaves for your combo.

Most "Frogs" are usually too weak to attack consistently. Chameleon Colossus and Changeling Titan are pretty big frogs. Vigor or Bubble Matrix means you can attack with anything without being squished by a big blocker

Honestly I've never been the biggest fan of Quirion Ranger. Mana-free triggers are neat, but his seems overshadowed to me by other elves.

The only exception I can think of would be something like a Landfall deck, where guaranteeing at least 1 land plays per turn is key. If you had some more mana generating elves (thinking Priest of Titania types) then Root Maze could play amazingly well. I would definitely look into at least 1 mana-generating creature besides the Spirit Guide

My own Elf deck functions easily on 1 to 2 actual Mana in play, all the rest is easily Elf-generated. I'm not certain how much you really need to focus on continually playing lands with the Ranger. If all you need is untap on a creature, I'd say there are probably better ways of going about it than this.

One enchantment I used in my Beast tribal build was Broken Fall. I get that the mana cost is a tad high for your build, but it's a free-return Enchantment with a useful effect that you could cast each turn in order to feed card draw off your Argothain Enchantress there. I suppose without really playing this deck in a bunch of games, I'm not certain how long it tends to play into midgame (which Broken Fall would most certainly be).

Other than that, maybe Sixth Sense for some more much-needed draw in a build like this? Also another Argothian trigger to cast it...

Anyway, I'm curious to see how this shapes up. Unconventional build to be sure but I think it has real potential. Best of luck to you on it!

Hey, well done if you haven't done a Sultai deck before.

If you want a combo that can be a win condition with Keimi then consider adding Pemmin's Aura and Freed from the Real? Either enchanted to Sanctum Weaver is infinite mana of all colors. Use infinite blue mana with Shimmering Wings to infinite cast/bounce it which triggers Keimi to be the win condition. Infinite green mana works with Whip Silk or Broken Fall. Incubation Druid can be a backup to make infinite mana with Freed or Pemmin.

Temple of the False God is not a good land here or really in any Commander deck, it's bad, but not here because you only have Shigeki, Jukai Visionary as land ramp and it's slow/unreliable. You're depending on land drops to enable Temple meaning consistently it will not tap for mana until turn five or after making it unplayable.

Some changes to consider:

The Signet could be cut for the mana dork. Reflection is less needed as a source of opponent life loss if you add the combo since the combo is infinite opponent life lose. Ancestry could replace Temple for another budget Sultai land and you have some Humans to potentially get some scry from it.

Good luck with your deck.

I would play Broken Fall as another protection spell

Big Update 21.5.2020: I included the Tidal Bore Combo together with Whispers of the Muse. That makes the 4 landdroppers combo pieces and takes away a lot of pressure from Ghostly Flicker. Plus it balances the power of the Transmute tutors, because searching for cmc2 now gives you Tidal Bore which comboes with a landdropper (plus Sanctuary).

Next I finally made the decision to cut Trinket Mage and Relic. I have cut Relic before but didnt update it here. It felt good and then I asked myself why I am still running Trinket Mage. It really took me some time of testing until I was sure this decision is correct.

Next thing is that I wanna make a list of cards that I have tried out and that got cut somehow. There is 2 lists: First a list of cards that are very interchangeable with cards in the deck. Its just a matter of what you expect from your playgroup. Both powerlevel wise as well as archetype wise. Second there is a list of cards Im definitely sure that do not belong in the deck even it might surprise some people :)

LIST OF CARDS THAT CAN BE USED IF YOU WANT TO:

Tutors: Shoreline Ranger, Vedalken AEthermage, Trinket Mage + Relic of Progenitus

Protection: Broken Fall, Fortitude, Vines of Vastwood, Ranger's Guile, Condescend, Rethink, Miscalculation

General: Temporal Fissure, Lignify, Frantic Search, Sleight of Hand, Sakura-Tribe Elder

LIST OF CARDS THAT DO NOT BELONG IN THE DECK: Mulldrifter, Wormfang Newt, Tilling Treefolk, Groundskeeper

Rashmi is awesome. Love her. Lots of ways to build her, too. Obviously I went in a bit of a gimmicky direction but the value is so strong. In my play I've found that smart opponents destroy her on sight, so protection is at a premium. Counterspells and boots are nice but the inclusion of Aspect of Mongoose has helped. I never mind seeing that card. Broken Fall might even be worth it!
