Changes to be made:

Aviation Pioneer for Aspiring Aeronaut : Same effect for lower CMC. Flying blockers can be a weak point for this deck.

Burdened Aerialist for Wall of Runes : Trading filtering for treasure production, adding another potential combo piece to the mix.

Inspiring Overseer for Skyscanner : Same effect for same CMC with lifegain attached.

Mulldrifter for Search Party Captain : Better digging option with the upside of being able to be evoked if in a pinch. SPC being dependent on attackers is good for when Abdel has made enough tokens, not great in your opening hand though.

Soul's Attendant for Dwarven Priest : Better long term lifegain option with a lower CMC.

Stonehorn Dignitary for Watertrap Weaver : Why tap an opponents creature when you can stop them from attacking at all? Yes they will be able to use their remaining creatures as blockers, No Abdel doesn't care when he attacks with 100x 10/10 soldiers.

Watcher for Tomorrow for Augur of Bolas : Better digging option with less chance to whiff.

Pristine Talisman for Manalith : Can give infinite lifegain when Abdel is in a blinking loop, and this deck doesn't necessarily need the mana fixing.

Ephemerate for Teferi's Time Twist : Far better value, lower CMC, and returns Abdel immediately rather than at the end of the turn.

Settle Beyond Reality for Voidwielder : Another blink loop option with a hard exile mode for opponents creatures, better all around for the same CMC.

Reality Acid for AEthersnipe : Hard removal for less mana.

Fellwar Stone and other two cmc rocks will replace the three cmc ones over time to lower the curve even further.

Hi, cool list! I am putting together a Jalira PDH, so this is a nice inspiration pool. It looks like you haven't updated your list in a while, so just out of my head: Chillbringer (freeze), Dimir Informant (surveil), Sage's Row Savant (scry), Aviation Pioneer (thopter token), Scholar of Stars (card draw).

Familiar's Ruse would be a cool counterspell in this deck, better than Mana Leak. I knew there was a counterspell that returned a creature to your hand!

Clayton was talking about Stonecloaker, which would be an awesome include in this deck. Interesting to note that it can return itself so you can keep replaying this over and over and exiling cards from graveyards.

Deputy of Acquittals, Quickling, Whitemane Lion, and Restoration Angel all seem like good additions to the deck. I think you'd want to add more creatures with abusable enters the battlefield effects, though. Mulldrifter and Cloudblazer are both decent card draw and would be nice to pick up and use again. Deadeye Navigator would also be amazing with Mulldrifter and Cloudblazer.

If you want cheap cards to cast (also $$ wise) that make a token when they enter the battlefield, Aviation Pioneer and Seller of Songbirds both make 1/1 fliers. There are a lot of creatures that make tokens when they enter the battlefield, but these creatures are the least mana cost, make tokens with evasion, cost pennies, and can come back from Bishop of Rebirth. Sun Titan would probably be rad in this deck. As would Deadeye Navigator.

Cards like Momentary Blink are cool because you can use them in response to a targeted removal spell. Your creature will leave the battlefield and return as a new instance, one that is not being targeted by the removal, fizzling their spell. Deadeye Navigator's effect is similar, BTW, another reason it's so good.

Maybe try Aviation Pioneer. At least that gives you two different creature names right when you play it. Also, I would switch the Tocatli Honor Guards for Ravenous Chupacabra or something. The guard is really a sideboard card and definitely shouldn't be a four of. The Chupacabra is good in most matchups and provides some nice removal to stop you from getting run over.

I really like the synergy that Fountain of Renewal has with the shocklands. Really innovative. I feel as if you don't need Diamond Mare, as you gain enough life from the fountain. I would take them out for Aviation Pioneer.

I think Mox Amber would also be a perfect include in this deck. I did not include this as I do not have the card at this time and all the deck I have posted on Tappedout I also have on paper. If I was to include Mox Amber I would be as a two off. I would cut one Sorcerous Spyglass and one Aviation Pioneer or just let both Skilled Animator's go. What would you change if you was to include Mox Amber BillTheSloth?

FSims81 Thanks for your comment. Aviation Pioneer is certainly a card worth considering, my obvious point of comparison is Pia Nalaar so 3 CMC is not a completely bad deal. Initially they do the same, 3 mana, two bodies and the power difference is not relevant. My reasons for not including it are the following.

Maybe i'm completely wrong and the two bodies are enough reason to play this agains an Aggro meta, but thats another discussion.

So I love the Detection Tower in dealing with hexproof that no one wants to deal with. With your desire to see additional thopter makers, do you see any room for Aviation Pioneer use? Or do you consider the 2 too high a cost for a 1/2 and 1/1?
