Ana Sanctuary

Enchantment

At the beginning of your upkeep, if you control a blue or black permanent, target creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn. If you control a blue permanent and a black permanent, that creature gets +5/+5 until end of turn instead.

Ana Sanctuary is on upkeep to one creature, you may be thinking of a different card.

If you have an anthem effect (Glorious Anthem or the like) the copy Ukkima, Stalking Shadow will be a 3/3 when it dies and will deal 3 damage from its trigger. Anthems have static abilities that apply at all times. There is never a time that a permanent is on the battlefield that it is not being affected by static abilities.

You do get the leaves the battlefield effect on the one you let die.

Copy effect only copy the base thing that it is copying, so the copy won’t have any buffs on it, and so won’t be benefitted from Ana Sanctuary.

If a creature leaves the battlefield while being buffed from something like Ana Sanctuary, that will count towards its power for determining its “leave the battlefield” abilities.

Hi if I have Ukkima, Stalking Shadow as my commander and cast Mirror Mockery enchanting Ukkima with some form of static pump effect on the battlefield, for instance Ana Sanctuary. When the second instance of Ukkima etc and the game checks SBAs, thus forcing me to put one of them into the graveyard. Do I get the leave the battlefield trigger from the one I have to let die? And if so, do I get it with increased power that is given by ana sanctuary? So would deal more damage and gain more life?

Possibly worth noting that, among cards with intervening if clauses that have variable effects based on the state of that trigger, Lathiel is a little bit of an outlier with regards to not gaining more benefit from responding to its trigger.

That is, when Damia, Sage of Stone triggers at the beginning of your upkeep because you have fewer than seven cards in hand, you can dump your hand and then draw more cards from its ability. And at the beginning of your upkeep when your Ana Sanctuary triggers because you control only a blue permanent, you can respond by making another permanent you control black, in order to get a bigger pump.

Lathiel doesn't do this, not because it doesn't check its condition again as the ability goes to resolve, but because you need to declare the targets and distribution of counters for its ability as that ability is put on the stack, and you don't get a chance to change that when the ability checks again if you've gained life.

I also run Brokkos, but more as Mutate-voltron, not Infect. I'd recommend checking out Ana Sanctuary as a way to boost combat damage.

Nice build! I think I might have to sub Deathreap Ritual into my Brokkos build, since I play in a fairly creature heavy playgroup.

If you want to emphasize on commander damage, I'd recommend checking out Ana Sanctuary and Mirror Shield. Some fun creatures to connect combat damage and create Mutate stack clones: Mist-Syndicate Naga, Spawnwrithe, and Scute Swarm

Thanks for the upvote Metroid_Hybrid. I think I peeped your deck a couple of times during my initial brewing process; cool stuff. Ana Sanctuary was something I saw on a Reddit thread for Brokkos tech. If I find it again, I'll likely add it to the description, since I try to site the primers & stuff I used.

I'm going the non-infect route (for now?), since someone in my playgroup already plays Volrath, the Shapestealer infect, and another friend plays Otrimi, the Ever-Playful. I wanted my build to be different enough from those two.
