Brash Taunter

Creature — Goblin

Indestructible

Whenever Brash Taunter is dealt damage, it deals that much damage to target opponent.

, : Brash Taunter fights another target creature. (Each deals damage equal to its power to the other.)

Any reason you don't use Brash Taunter? It's great with damage based wipes, suddenly your Blasphemous Act family spells also dome an opponent, if you can double that you'll probably eliminate someone.

In a list that has a decent number of creatures that can deal damage you might look into Basilisk Collar, it's good with many of your creatures, similarly Scavenged Brawler can turn a mediocre creature into a real problem. I'll never forget putting those counters onto a Brash Taunter!

It's probably not the best thing you can be doing, but Crypt Rats and similar effects are endless fun. There is also Exocrine, this weird guy can generate a lot of damage if you've got the mana, yet it also will draw you a card and leave a huge creature. Also, what the heck, Thrashing Wumpus exists too, and can Pestilence twice every turn without croaking, which could add up/cripple your opponents' boards. Very good if you've got Whip out obviously!

Do people run a lot of Blue in your meta? I liked Citadel of Pain a bit in a deck like this, normally this is symmetrical, but with your synergy it might play a lot better. I like Citadel in decks that feature a fairly high MV, where you don't want people to be able to bluff by holding up mana.

Since you don't run a ton of lands, maybe Acidic Soil? That could be 3 mana to win on the spot in some games.

Would Descent into Avernus work in here? It'll speed up games, not sure if your deck is usually one of the faster ones in your pod, if so it should help, if you're normally a slower deck then it's probably going to get you killed.

Fires of Mount Doom is a dual purpose card, offering you a way to slow down a Voltron deck, yet also a way to draw cards. I normally wouldn't bother with Impulse draw, but if your deck isn't really into combos then it plays well enough. Another nifty way to get cards in hand that opponents probably can't take advantage of with Obosh out is Wheel of Misfortune, a card I normally don't like. If you can double that damage (or better), then opponents will be very wary of trying to wheel.

Hey, love this deck! I'm working on my own Mogis deck atm. Did you consider Brash Taunter?

indieinside I'm glad you found my suggestions helpful! Those two cards are very strong and will certainly speed up the game, if not win it outright. Here are some cards I might cut if I were you:

  • Brash Taunter: not a Dragon and rarely will be dealt damage. All your Dragons are scary enough blockers, too.

  • Dragon Egg: again, you have far more powerful blockers and a 2/2 that you can pump is just not good enough for 3 mana. It would be better to spend that mana in early turns getting ramp on the board.

  • Dragon Hatchling: same rationale as Dragon Egg.

  • Dragonmaster Outcast: OK in the late game, but it triggers on your upkeep so the Dragons you get will have summoning sickness. It takes a long time for this card to get going.

  • Doubling Cube: a very good card, but I'm not sure if you need it in this deck. Other ramp and cost reducers will probably achieve the same effect. Plus, playing this card may signal to other players that you're going to do a big combo, potentially putting a target on your head.

  • Worldslayer: probably don't need this. Your main wincon here is sending burn at opp face and turning your cards sideways.

Also, you might want to add cards like Ancestral Anger that give your Dragons trample. That card is especially good because it cantrips too. Hope this helps -- I'm eager to see the final version of the deck!

I could be wrong, but I think part of your problem is that you can't run enough wipes to keep pressure down but also cannot run enough creatures to deal with aggro. Some stuff that can help with this include Propaganda, maybe War Tax do a good job at deterring early aggro. Callous Oppressor type cards are pretty powerful, creature theft effects allow you to keep up with aggressive decks running powerful creatures without having to run or cast them yourselves. There might be a couple useful token generators that might fit, Ophiomancer and Ogre Slumlord both provide endless Deathtouch blockers and can deter attacks. My final suggestion to help prevent losses is dedicated blockers, cards like Brash Taunter, this sweet blocker survives many wipes and can make brute force risky to use vs you. There are also cards like Fog Bank that can block fairly well, but remember that low toughness means you're vulnerable to Trample.

I would try out Rite of the Raging Storm, it puts a lot of pressure on the board for anyone but you who can't block a 5/1 trample. Mask of Griselbrand works really well with Rite, but it also works well with any other non-flyer you want to attack with, and helps incase you get wiped/targeted with removal since it can draw cards. The lifegain is a nice perk. Viashino Heretic is a way to blow up artifacts repeatedly that also can deal some damage, if people use large artifacts it can be a lot of damage for mana.

Looking good! As this is tagged as legacy, the combo between Brash Taunter and Blazing Sunsteel could absolutely find a home in here, but either of the two would be a fine addition.

No

Target Creature with indestructible gets X plus one plus one counters and gains hexproof for X+20 turns.

Man Really Said "NO"

I wanted to do this because creatures with indestructible are basically invincible so I decided to make them even more broken with hexproof. The reason why I did this is because I wanted to make Brash Taunter so that he could never die.
