I definitely underestimated Wirewood Symbiote and the value of ETB effects in elves. In my playtesting I have been leaning harder into Quirion Ranger and pursuing Tooth and Nail for my win condition. that Eladamri, Korvecdal absolutly seems amazing because it doesnt lock you into a creature type... I personally have been using Aether Vial to chuck out creatures from hand thinking that felt strong but the casting from the top of the library can just be absolutely busted i love it.

after watching the video I've come to these conclusions:

  • Shaman of the Pack will win the game via high Elf population; and that's pretty much all there is to it. Seems far and above to be the most consistent way for Elves to win.

  • Tooth and Nail needs a high elf population, a mana boon elf Priest of Titania/Elvish Archdruid that can as well as having targets for tooth and nail that are otherwise bricks/dead in your hand like Tyrant of Discord and Realm Razer (there are certainly better targets I just was having fun)

  • Craterhoof Behemoth is similar to tooth and nail for the requirements but can feel awkward because somtimes you can elves for mana and then suddenly not have enough attackers for lethal damage.

all in all im just kinda excited for elves in the upcoming near future... I think I wanna give them an honest try.

I am curious is anyone brewing or have a good blueprint for playing Elves in Modern 2024? With Modern now having access to:

I have an OLD elf deck that centered around Elvish Archdruid and Joraga Warcaller... But I just think there is better things the deck can do now with these retroactively made legal cards... is good ol' Craterhoof Behemoth or Tooth and Nail still sounding like good options?

Niko9 on How is the New Voja …

You know, I just realized that with red in it's colors, Voja is probably nuts with extra combat step effects. Just untapping creatures like Priest of Titania and Marwyn, the Nurturer multiple times a turn is big, whil also drawing cards...wait...wow...

I mean, I used to play an elfball deck that would go infinite turn 4 very consistently, and thinking about it, I worry what Voja would do to that kind of deck because if you can try to go infinite as fast as possible, get interrupted, then cast Voja, then try to draw into another infinite, all in a way that synergizes, this could be pretty rough for the other 3 players at the table.

Really though, I don't think Voja will be some cEDH powerhouse or anything, but it may be too much for casual, something like Narset, Enlightened Master

I like running Nettle Sentinel and Birchlore Rangers as they can generate a ton of mana together. Quirion Ranger lets you re-use Priest of Titania or if you add Timberwatch Elf. Also, its blue but there are some elves(Birchlore Rangers included) that generate blue mana so Distant Melody can draw like 10 cards relatively easily. It also gets even scarier with Lys Alana Huntmaster.

Holy cow, good job on the degenerate part!

I playtested it and my board on T3 looks like this (first try btw):

6x Forest (one of which became a 3/3 creature)

Exploration (conveniently played T1), Vernal Bloom (conveniently played T2), Nissa, Who Shakes the World

Marwyn, the Nurturer with 3 +1/+1 counters, Llanowar Tribe, Elvish Archdruid, Priest of Titania

One Forest in hand.

Also looks like the deck is only 120$ ??? Don't know much about this format, its speed etc. but this looks OP, thanks again!

Welcome to the club, Moonsteel!

Priest of Titania gives you massive amounts of green mana, which can lead into an equally massive Genesis Wave or similar effect. Since Meren of Clan Nel Toth wants creatures to die, and Elf decks are excellent at generating lots of creatures, look for some more sacrifice effects that let you control when and how creatures die.

Above all, have fun!

Nice deck! Maybe take out the Sanctum Weaver for a Priest of Titania? It's a better mana dork.

Love the deck!

Hi Romer! I know! I run the same deck and making cuts is so hard, just too many good elf cards.

One question I don't really know which is better and also myself am struggling with. Maybe it's an idea to take Joraga Warcaller out for Galadhrim Brigade. I use Joraga only with a kicker so paying 3 mana, what is the same cost of Galadhrim (then both will give +1/+1). The kicker has the same price as the squad (2 mana). Shouldn't Galadhrim's squad ability give us copies which will count as elfs? This would give a little bit more advantage for Circle of Dreams Druid, Elvish Archdruid, Priest of Titania or Wirewood Channeler. Or won't they count as elfs?

Also Collected Company and Genesis Wave are worth watching, gives me a great advantage now and then. Especially the last one when I have a lot of mana on the table. I'm def gonna follow your deck cause it gave me some cool new cards for my deck!
