Maybeboard

Deck maked from the Outlaws of Thunder Junction Commander: Most Wanted.

Summary:

This deck is a hybrid deck. It combines Control, Midrange and Aristocrats elements, all in the theme of treasures. I designed this deck on my own and with one idea in mind. To be able to join any 7/8 power pods, be the police of the table and have fun. 34 lands are enough and we dont need to rush anything. We just chill and if anything happens, we wrath the board. I dont play tutors as I like, that each game is different. If you want, go ahead and play them, it will improve the consistency for sure.

Stats:

Why this card was selected?:

  • Aven Interrupter - Its a Rogue, but that is not why we play it. Mardu does not have a lot of counter spells. And this one is great, especially to counter big spells, X spells, counter spells. No fun to lose to Expropriate, Exsanguinate, Torment of Hailfire. This card is amazing for more reasons, but trust me, just play it.. Staple for any non blue decks as a great interaction option.
  • Inkshield - In total we have 15 "Instant" cards and this deck is quite interactive. We dont have a lot of flyers and as you see we dont run Teferi's Protection. I like Inkshield as its flexible. And its hard for opponents to play around it as you have treasures to pay the cost and.. My creatures are not the strongest so we will be attacked. The threat of having this card saves me a lot of life if the opponent knows we have it in our deck.
  • Opposition Agent - Its my pet card. I just dont like tutors. Tutors are not within the EDH (not CEDH) spirit. So I love to punish anyone that uses tutors. If you want, you can replace it with whatever you want. I added 2 tutors to maybe section if you really want to play them.

Section TBD..

Why this card was not selected?:

  • Ancient Copper Dragon - SLOW, no Haste... Always dies in any normal pod and the sneaky play: tutor in last enemy end step with Magda, Brazen Outlaw is not that amazing and everyone knows its comming. WIN MORE CARD. Not worth the $$$. Typical overated trap card.
  • Generous Plunderer - Did not had room for it. Its ok, but honestly, I dont like giving treasures to my opponents. I treat it as a strange mana rock and included it in my Olivia, Opulent Outlaw deck where I can play Olivia a turn sooner + have a outlaw attacker.
  • Hell to Pay - A bad removal or Win More Finisher. I dont like it for a lot of reasons. Its a sorcery and someone can response with a removal or sac outlet. Best when you target a 1/2 health minion and with more health it just gets worst. By the way the treasures enter tapped so you cant attack with them the same turn and its one of those spells where you have to waste your whole turn. Whole turn to kill 1 weak creature? Ugh... And sometimes you dont have good targets on the board.. Bad card - dont play it. If you really want to play a card with this effect, play Bottle-Cap Blast.
  • Captain Lannery Storm - Worst Kellogg, Dangerous Mind. No room in the deck to include it. Sometimes difficult to connect/attack with it. Budget option for sure.
  • Cybermen Squadron - Win more... And tokens are tapped, cant use them for mana on 2nd main phase.
  • Seize the Spotlight - Better card in Olivia, Opulent Outlaw deck. Giving options to your opponents is not the best. Better in a Aggro/Midrange only decks.

Section TBD..

Maybe:

Section about cards that need more testing or I did not had any more room for them - had to cut.

  • Great Train Heist - Win more card but as its a instant, might have some uses. I did not had room for it. I focused more on survivability.
  • Bottle-Cap Blast - Not a bad card, best when you have 4 treasures on the board - for 1 red its fine. In Mardu we just have stronger options and... Its better to have a guaranteed exile/destroy removal, not a situational one for weak (low health) creatures. My removals need to be flexible or cheap+strong.
  • Teferi's Protection - Great card. Expensive replacement for Boros Charm.
  • The One Ring - I mean, this card is great in any deck, got it, include it. Expensive replacement for Treasure Map  .

Section TBD..

Tips section:

Something probably not a lot of people mention is, if you dont have any 3 mana spell on your 3rd turn, just play Vihaan. Normaly you think.. to wait till you got a lot of treasures. But honestly, I am fine if he eats a removal. We can easly recast him when we need him to finish a game. 5/7/9 mana? No problem! We got cards that will stall the game/keep us alive.

Budget replacements:

Section TBD..
