With the advent of the new set Outlaws of Thunder Junction, I have took it upon myself to build a new EDH deck around Obekah, Splitter of Seconds. I know I know, not very original... BUT, I ask you this Magic players. Have you seen anyone attempt to build Obeka as a group hug deck yet? Yup, you heard that right. Forget Zedru, forget Kynaios and Tiro. I have made a Grixis group hug deck with Obekah at the helm. Granted it is also a bit voltron-y with a decent amount of equipment and enchantments, but most of those are just to guarantee that Obekah actually hits. After all, you won't mind taking a couple damage if I give you a bunch of treasures and extra cards, right? ...right? And yes, I know counterspells, boardwipes and removal are not very "group huggy," but most of those are in there just to protect Obekah (and to make sure the game goes on longer so I can give everyone more treasure tokens and cards!). And of course, I also need some way to win the game, so mechanized production as well as a couple other win cons are in here too. Oh what's that? Rakdos Charm? Uhhhhh, that's just my way of saying "I really super love your Rhys, the Redeemed hyper aggressive elves deck, Matt. Please keep playing it every game, everyone at the LGS really likes you."
