I was undecided whether to play Bring to Light or Maze’s End - or what version of each deck I wanted to give a go - so I did what any sensible person would do an decided to play everything at the same time.

This is my first attempt at an ultimate, wombo-combo edition deck with a Maze’s End focus.

THEME: Ramp lands, play gate pay-off cards, assemble a combo / synergy, profit??

NEW ADDITION Spelunking now gives us untapped lands! This works incredibly well with both our standard ramp cards and combo pieces (e.g. Scapeshift)

COMBO 1: Maze’s End. Assemble 9 different gates (we play 11 types), then activate Maze’s End to win. Our ramp cards (Arboreal Grazer, Growth Spiral, Circuitous Route etc) make this a lot more fluid, and our gate pay-off cards give us card advantage (Guild Summit) and sweepers (Gates Ablaze).

COMBO 2: Scapeshift + Splendid Reclamation. Helps us assemble the above in slightly fancier and unexpected way. We only need 1x copy of each as we have Bring To Light acting as additional copies.

COMBO / synergy 3: Bring to Light. Playing all the gates means we have all the colours. Bring to Light is the perfect toolbox card to help us assemble our combos. On its own we can get Omnath, Golos and Hour of Promise for ramp and land value - or perhaps Assassin’s Trophy and Supreme Verdict to deal with anything standing in our way - as well as provide a few specific light combos itself…

Because of how the card is worded, we can cast the other side of Valki and Glyphweaver from BTL, giving us a fair bit of bang for our bucks. Elesh Norn can supercharge our Guild Summits, Plaza of Harmony and Omnaths, and Escape to the Wilds gives us a nice card draw target.

Draw a combo piece you don’t want yet? Have both a Bring to Light and a boring unflipped Valki in hand? Volcanic Spite means we can put BTL targets and other late game cards back into our library, ready to be shuffled in whenever we next tutor for a spell or land.

(NOT CURRENTLY IN DECK) COMBO 4: Sunbird’s Invocation + Approach of the Second Sun. Sunbird gives us a tremendous amount of value on its own, but also a way to get to our second Approach that much quicker. Gate Colossus is the perfect CMC to dig directly for it - along with the other side of Valki & Glyphyweaver.
