  1. Don't play Borderposts. They offer no benefit for you, but opponent may destroy them with artifact hate. You also risk having an opening hand without basic lands, making them unplayable. Play Arcane Sanctum and Jungle Shrine instead.
  2. Add 2 Elspeth, Knight-Errant. It gives you an evasion against repeated blockers such as Sprouting Thrinax and also can itself provide repeated blockers. The +3+/+3 bonus doubles with Rafiq and Finest Hour.
  3. Your sideboard is bad. There is no reason to play Call to Heel when you can play Hindering Light. You don't have any enters-the-battlefield effects, so you never want to return your own creatures to hand when you can leave them on the battlefield. You have no answer to the Martial Coup.
  4. Check Cascade - Shards of Alara Block - an actual constructed deck from that era. It would destroy you hard with all the card advantage. Your deck also has problems with instant removal, since you always attack with only one creature.

Serene Master would work very well! Not to mention it's a badass monk card! Monks and Wizards are my favorite creature type. One reason I want to get rid of Hindering Light is that I don't want to draw on my opponent's turn, as Irencrag Pyromancer wouldn't work in that case. I'm thinking about replacing Hindering Light with just 2x Counterspell and 2x Mana Leak.

No problem =). Tormenting Voice is not bad, though I would suggest Thrill of Possibility or Cathartic Pyre instead. The first one is the same card, but at instant speed and the second one gives an option of burn when you need it. If you're looking for something similar to Hindering Light, you can try Outwit or Turn Aside, which are a bit more specific, but cost less. If you don't mind the double blue cost you can try Redirect, which also fits the theme and is particularly good against burn. I really wish Serene Master was modern legal, he looks like would've fit perfectly here.

Barbarian_Sun_Pope what do you recommend I use instead of Hindering Light?! Planning on buying a card(s) to do so.

And I'm sorry for being cross. I have one more point: One of the things that gives me a plus to the loss of having 80 cards is how much I invest in card draw: The Inward Eye (15) 3x Archmage Emeritus 4x Deliberate 1x Divination 3x Hindering Light 4x Opt

I might remove some cards and make more room for card draw just for the heck of it.

Got rid of Hindering Light and Mana Leak and added Justice Strike. Purely aikido, but yet probably very useful with certain cards. This is the most fun deck I've made yet.

Looks like a fun and casual deck to play. Some cool ideas here with the Silkbind Faerie and Swift Response. To improve the deck, I would personally take out Revitalize because of your lifegain with Steel of the Godhead, and replace with more protection or interaction like Hindering Light or Dramatic Rescue. Also maybe more card draw/digging would be good like Ponder, Preordain, or Brainstorm.

Feel free to check out my W/U Control deck if you want...it's aight.

My main suggestion would just be to look for versions of your cards that do similar things for less mana. For instance, Soul Sear could probably be Lightning Bolt , Blazing Salvo , Mizzium Mortars , Thundering Rebuke , Roast , or Tears of Valakut if you're expecting flyers. Similarly, Dissolve and Ionize might be better as Spell Pierce , Counterspell , Hindering Light , Izzet Charm , Mana Leak , etc. depending on what you need to counter when.

The only other card I'll suggest (and I admit that it's a pet card of mine so I might be biased) is Myth Realized . It triggers prowess itself, grows from the same triggers as prowess, provides a mana sink in the late game, and is a creature that can conveniently dodge your own boardwipes whether they be Pyroclasm , Evacuation , or Wrath of God .
