Glimpse of Tomorrow

Sorcery

Suspend 3— (Rather than cast this card from your hand, pay and exile this with two time counters on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a time counter. When the last is removed, cast this without paying its mana cost.)

Shuffle all permanents you own into your library, then reveal that many cards from the top of your library. Put all non-Aura permanent cards revealed this way onto the battlefield, then do the same for Aura cards, then put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.

So, actually Dani3377, I make so many tokens because they get shuffled into the deck then “poof” as soon as they get there. So I count the tokens that I have when casting Glimpse of Tomorrow.

This quote is from the Gatherer website regarding rulings for Glimpse of Tomorrow; “If you own any token permanents, they will be also be shuffled into your library. They’ll count towards the number of cards you reveal. Even though the tokens will technically be in your library until Glimpse of Tomorrow is finished resolving, they won’t affect the shuffle or the cards you reveal.”

However, you are right about the Goblin Dark-Dwellers thing, I have no clue why I put that down, me being a bit scatterbrained.

seshiro_of_the_orochi, I've been back and forth on including Profane Tutor. In practice it's been working out for me, but I understand your concerns about it. The cascaders on three will hit it to set up Eureka on four, but yes, it can be underwhelming when it's hit by The First Sliver on five. It used to be Glimpse of Tomorrow, but I found that spell to be a little too random for my liking. Still looking for the perfect card for its slot.

I'll be adding Nalfeshnee as soon as possible. I've been looking for a good way to copy Glimpse of Tomorrow for a potential blowout with Confusion in the Ranks and this does the trick while still having good synergy with the deck in general.

Stardragon The problem with printing hyper-chaotic effects at lower mana is that it has a high risk of messing with a lot of formats. I get that you (as far as i've gathered) just play casual EDH, but there are a lot of other formats which could be severely impacted by highly chaotic effects at low mana. Stuff like Burning Inquiry can shut down games completely on turn 1 - and effects like that which can end a game immediately by pure chance aren't healthy for a large majority of the formats. I get that you don't play those formats, but it doesn't make the argument any less valid.

As for cheaper chaos effects affecting the format, I'll reference modern specifically for this (as it's the constructed format I play). Yes, there are a lot of chaotic cards that see no play - but that's because they're garbage cards. Whenever wizards prints a "chaos card" that is even remotely close to being powerful, it quickly finds ways to get abused. Tibalt's Trickery was basically insta-banned in modern because it's toxic AF. Likewise, we've seen other "chaotic" cards do very well - Glimpse of Tomorrow and Burning Inquiry are both very "pushed". Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer is a sudo-chaos effect (in that it gives you random access to an opponents cards), and we can see that have massive swings in games (while it's mostly harmless, getting the right card fro its trigger can be pretty game-ending, and isn't a good game-feeling).

Any competitive format with a large selection of "strong" chaotic cards is going to suffer for having them, and be a worse environment to play in, in general. I get that you don't play competitive formats, but that doesn't take away from the point here - Wotc have to be very careful about how they print these kinds of effects (and so far, they mostly have-been). If they enforced that the devil creatures had to be chaotic in nature, I think all that would result in, is them printing very, very few Devils (faar less than what you're seeing at the moment). They would be nigh-non-existent in standard sets, and even in supplemental sets would be extremely rare (as anything printed there could warp Legacy etc)

Fat_old_guy - The lack of fast mana was the sacrifice I had to make for Glimpse of Tomorrow, unfortunately.

I'm glad it worked for you.

New Capenna has so many fun options for this deck that I need to test, so I'll update it when I have that figured out.

Fat_old_guy, it's still being played, and I keep an eye out for new stuff (mostly new ways to make tokens). I haven't done updates since before Neon dynasty came out because that set had so many fun commanders to build around, but I might try Kami of Celebration for a bit. There's wiggle room to make changes and try new things, so don't feel like you have to stick to the list as is.

The only major changes I'm thinking about are to make room for Karn, the Great Creator and Mycosynth Lattice, but there's no real reason to make the change.

A minor change I may make is adding in a way to copy Glimpse of Tomorrow so that I can potentially do some busted things with Confusion in the Ranks, but this is a very low priority.

This deck is definitely worth trying out.

@ GiveMeYourKidneys Cobie's text box says "Until end of turn, you may cast that card without paying its mana cost."

The card exiled with Codie is not cast immediately. Doublecast resolves before you get a chance to cast Glimpse of Tomorrow.

Furthermore Codie's page on Gatherer clarifies this in the 6th ruling from the top. To quote "The last card exiled is not cast immediately. You may cast it until the end of the current turn. If you do not cast it, that card will remain in exile."
