I'm not sure if Teysa would even want a friend, but Michiko Konda, Truth Seeker is a bit of a kindred, maybe they could hang for tea?

If you want people to attack a lot there is Angel's Trumpet, very handy that your Spirits have flying! Exquisite Blood is a combo piece, but it's also a strong card on it's own, it synergizes with your Commander very powerfully I'd say, if people come at you their creature's die, and if they go at each other then you gain life. Breena, the Demagogue can be used to make your stuff better. Shadrix Silverquill has a really good interaction with your Commander, if you give someone an Inkling and they come at you it dies and you get a 1/1, and if you give your board +1 counters twice than your 1/1s clobber inklings. I would run Transmogrifying Wand over Murder, it's 4 mana for the first creature but only 1 more for the next 2. You could also try something like Reckless Spite. I am a big fan of True Conviction, very good with a big token army.

It's a pretty janky card but I often enjoy using Axis of Mortality in White decks that are trying to stay on budget, you can punish or reward people as you see fit, it's a very strong political effect, and if people are losing creatures to your ability to lower your life total (while giving you evasive attackers) then you're probably gaining ground.

It's up to you obviously if you don't want to run more lands, but have you thought about including some MDFCs? I use Hagra Mauling  Flip and am happy to see it now and then, ETB tapped lands aren't great, but if the spell effect is also a playable effect their value is incredible. I'm sure you could find a use for Malakir Rebirth  Flip too, though that is less budget.

In the time that I've played Commander I've come to the conclusion that one of the hallmarks of a good deck is card draw, especially low to the ground effects. Stuff like Sign in Blood and Night's Whisper are very good in practice, there are also things like Village Rites, Corrupted Conviction, Plumb the Forbidden, and Reckoner's Bargain, these are all handy with your tokens, but also if you can't protect your Commander and they're getting blown up anyways, this can also prevent effects like Oubliette from working (which can be VERY helpful if your deck depends on your Commander, you might want a couple in the deck in case). If you think your tokens might stay 1/1s, or that you can get them to die with consistency then Skullclamp draws a lot of cards. Stinging Study draws a whopping 7 cards in this deck, for only 5 mana, I'd say that'd be handy late game.

Profet93 I completely forgot about Ugin, the Ineffable! And he makes my expensive mana rocks that much cheaper, great shout, thank you!

Fair point about this not being close to cEDH, I more meant in vibes. That the strategy is to burst out of the gates, ramp, then tutor for the wincon (which comes out of nowhere like an infinite combo, even though it's not). I can't speak too much about it though because I never keep up with cEDH decks enough to know where the similarities are.

Ugin is going in, the only two targeted artifact removal spells I know of in mono black are Phyrexian Tribute and Gate to Phyrexia, I'll probably grab the cheaper of the two and toss it in there. The other thing I'm looking at is swapping the targeted creature removal, because a lot of it is sorcery speed, my Maybeboard has the instant speed versions I'm grabbing next time I go card shopping.

I would absolutely love to hear you recommendations! I don't love stax or infinite combos. At least, not easy infinite combos. I want Exquisite Blood in the deck for the life gain, but I won't get Sanguine Bond for example. If it takes some effort and thought to set up, I don't mind that. Similar for stax, I don't want to shut the game down for anyone, but I'm okay with making it a bit harder. For example, one of the decks I face the most in my pod is Gollum, Obsessed Stalker, which is completely shut down by both Archfiend of Despair and Plague Drone, both are in the deck, but they're creatures and easy to deal with. This was meant to be a mean deck but I'm a big ol' softie.

For budget, this is the deck I'm willing to spend on, I'm okay with a couple of $20 cards, or if you've got a lot of suggestions then let's say $5/card.

Again, thanks so much!

I dont think I'd have any card in my deck with the sole purpose of being a blocker. Id hate it every time I drew the card.

Darkness is a fog in black

Ensnaring Bridge might work if you can play around it. Your guys are small but your buffing them.

Stuffy Doll + Pariah's Shield is cute but on their own they are sort of dead draws.

Hissing Miasma is a deterrent but not a very strong one

Crawlspace limits the number of attackers

Exquisite Blood might solve the problem in another way

Mirage Mirror acts as a great deterrent that also has a lot of utility.

Marchesa's Decree give you monarch which you can always get back so thats sweet

Revenge of Ravens meh

Davriel, Soul Broker very strong

Dread

Solemn Simulacrum the best blocker lol

Not exactly what you asked for but hopefully gave you some good ideas.

I fixed the arcane signet issue. I can put Exquisite Blood in for sure. I think that'll add some fun stuff and fits the theme. Any thoughts on what to trim?

Looks like you have two Arcane Signets in here.

Outside of that, the deck has Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose and Sanguine Bond. Exquisite Blood is a win condition with both of these, if you're willing and able to go that direction. Sun Titan is a big mana card, but can give you another layer of resilience.

axxein I'm really glad to hear you liked the deck. To answer your question about Sanguine Bond and Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, I try to avoid having infinite combos in my decks as I don't really enjoy them and I wanted to keep the power level down. The other problem is that if people know you have an infinite combo in your deck, and see one of the pieces, they are immediately forced to target you to keep you from winning, something this deck can only sustain for so long. Truthfully though, i've never found I needed it. The deck is really consistent, does really well in multiplayer and even wins far more often in 1v1's than it makes sense to (I still have no idea how it beats full on aggro decks as often as it does), and is just fun to play. You deal a lot of damage from discard alone, have multiple other sources of damage, and i've never felt like I desperately needed Sanguine Bond to win. I never put the rest of the combo in as I felt that it would lose that. It would turn from an enjoyable game into one where if I draw 2 cards I just win.

In this case i'm actually running Exquisite Blood to help offset the life-loss from Tinybones, Trinket Thief. Once your engine is fully online you can easily lose 4 life per cycle just to him, which adds up quickly. In addition to that, we run Bolas's Citadel and Black Market Connections which both eat through our life fairly quickly. As such we have quite a bit of life gain in this deck to offset that. That's actually why we even run Gixian Puppeteer, Sheoldred, the Apocalypse (Who I would cut if I could find a comparable alternative who doesn't drain my opponents as that draws too much attention to me), Twilight Prophet, and Faith of the Devoted among other cards.

Thank you so much for the question and suggestions though, and i'm really glad you liked the deck!
