Sorry, but I honestly don't see the pillow-fortiness of this deck, with exception of the Crawlspace . Maybe a Disrupt Decorum or Grenzo, Havoc Raiser would be considered pillow-fort cards for red.

And without listing a bunch of walls (or creatures with Defender), you may want to consider Endbringer , Briber's Purse , or Edifice of Authority .

Tap down cards are solid. During Amonkhet pre-release I snagged a edifice of authority and used it. While it doesn't tap things down the impact is the same. That single card saved my ass a number of times and carried me to a top 2 finish

@smashadams83

I like the updated build, I'll post more in depth thoughts on your thread.

There are definitely a few convoluted infinite combos in this deck that can come up. I don't run Capsize for that very reason, but it's an awesome card in this kind of deck. 4 card infinite "oops" type combos are pretty much fine in my group though so I may give Capsize a test run.

I haven't had much luck with Grand Architect personally. I ran it in an early version of the deck but the fact that it can't ramp the majority of my creatures was a bummer. Now that I run Walking Ballista and Memnarch as win conditions I may have to give it another shot.

Sword of Feast and Famine is another interesting include. I may give that a shot as I almost always find I have tons of cards and want more mana.

Stubborn Denial does seem nice on paper but I think it's a trap card. Most of your creatures do turn it on and a 1 mana Negate is awesome, but when you don't have a 4 power creature it's REALLY bad. Counters are the kind of card that ALWAYS need to work as intended so I'd rather just run Negate or something like it.

As far as Arcane Adaptation is concerned, I'm not as high on it as I used to be. I run more non-sphinxes than you (12 if you count my clones) but sometimes it just doesn't pull it's weight. It needs two other cards to function (Unesh and a non-sphinx in hand) and when those things aren't present it's just a wasted spell. I've been toying with the idea of cutting it in favor of Blue Sun's Zenith. That said, you only really need it to hit once per game for it to pull it's weight and when it does hit multiple times it feels amazing.

I ran Oracle's Vault and Edifice of Authority in my first build of the deck, but cut them quickly because they are pretty weak without untappers online. If I were to power down my list I'd probably put them back in because they are really fun, but they just don't pull enough weight in my current list.

Mystical Tutor is insane. If you have access to one it's definitely worth a shot, especially when you run powerful spells like Rite of Replication and Cryptic Command.

noshadowkick - here is my latest build - Unesh, A Riddle of Sphinges

In playing I have found an infinite mana combo: Gilded Lotus + Paradox Engine + Voltaic Key and a buyback spell - like Capsize to bounce the entire board or Forbid.
obviously this is a 4 card combo, but I thought it was funny that I assembled it without even tutoring while playing today. Im sure there could be more combos w/ all the untapping effects here. The deck has many different lines of play and intricacies which Im a huge fan of.

the deck feels so strong once you get unesh out and get going, chaining your sphinges and spells together. Some cards that Im really liking:Grand Architect for ramp and the +1/+1 buff is just gravy.

Empyrial Plate is great and i also tested Sword of Feast and Famine the other night which proved really strong as well.

Crystal Shard has proven to be really useful.

Rite of Replication is insane when you kick it targeting Consecrated Sphinx!

Stubborn Denial seems great on paper in this deck as well but I haven't been able to try it yet. What do you think about it?

some cards Im still unsure about are: Arcane Adaptation( I have 7 creatures out of 25 which are not sphinx)

Edifice of Authority

Oracle's Vault.

Have you tried these last two? seems only good with untapping effects or a really grindy game. thinking of adding mystical tutor for utility or some more counters/removal.

razelfark on How 2 infinite turns in STD

BBfanatic21 I think you missed something. The deck said how it could go infinite, not that you will get there.

Silly and original deck design. I like it overall for its creativity. I do agree with BB that the deck combo would be too difficult to get to as it is currently presented. Maybe you would want to try to build this combo with the artifact lock down control options as alternate win con and help you survive longer vs cards that your burn will be lackluster vs. Cards for this would be along the lines of edifice of authority, Deadlock Trap, Pacification Array, and Mechanized Production. You could also run Renegade Map as a way to have a card on board for the ascension and/or a method to help thin cards from deck.

If you add the cards I was suggesting, it will change up your deck design and feel a bit. I am not sure it will be what you are looking for, but might help the deck have second way to win if vs someone with lots of kill spells keeping you from combo, or someone that runs Lost Legacy and destroys your whole deck in one cast.

CheeseE on Can Edifice of Authority stop …

I know you can't respond to a crew by activating Edifice of Authority's first ability (it would fizzle), but is their actually any way to stop a vehicle crewed during combat from attacking with Edifice of Authority?

precociousapprentice on Marchesa, Political Queen of Pillows

Agreed, MegaMatt13. zenia, being able to use all your pieces to not just stop attacks, but to redirect them at your opponents, that is the real power of a political Queen Marchesa. edifice of authority may stop an attack, and later may even stop an ability, but I would rather that my opponents keep all their offense at full strength, just be unwilling to target me with it. edifice of authority stops them from being able to attack my opponents, and leaves a blocker around to discourage people from attacking them until later in the game. Interesting, but I think it would not replace Pacification Array.
