Would Command Beacon reset the extra mana for a commander?

Asked by Bobby654 8 years ago

Here's what;s going on. I know that the new commanders come out today. My question is could Command Beacon reset all of the extra mana you need to play your commander. just for an example the commander is Ezuri, Claw of Progress and he's been in and out of the command zones enough times to need 8 mana to bring him out. Would Command Beacon get rid of the extra 4 mana needed. or does that extra mana stay on him?

each time your commander is cast from the command zone, he costs more to cast for each time he was previously cast from the command zone that game

if you bring him to your hand for whatever reason (Boomerang for example, or in your case Command Beacon), he only costs his

if he dies again and goes to the command zone, the commander tax is still relevant and can never be reset

The 'Command Tax' is only payable when your Commander is cast from the Command zone, and it is calculated from how many times your Commander has been cast from the Command zone in the game so far.

To cast your Commander from anywhere else you don't need to pay this extra cost. From your hand, you usually pay its base mana cost. This casting doesn't add to future 'Command Tax' should it return to the Command zone.
