What activates first lifelink or damage ability?

Asked by Jimmy_Jamone 6 years ago

In a theory, if I controlled a Vicious Conquistador and my opponent controlled a Bishop's Soldier and my opponent had only 1 health remaining. When I attack with my Vicious Conquistador and he blocks with his Bishop's Soldier what will happen?

a. Will my opponent die, since Vicious Conquistador ability triggers when attacking and deals 1 damage killing my opponent before he gets to block with Bishop's Soldier and retrieve 2 health from lifelink?

b. Will my opponent survive? Vicious Conquistador's ability only triggers when it has dealt damage and when blocked by Bishop's Soldier opponent receives 2 heal from lifelink?

How does this sequencing work?

A.

Blocks are declared after attacks are made (and abilities triggered by attacks have all resolved).
