Wake the Dead bringing back Mikaeus, the Unhallowed

Asked by Pheardemons 8 years ago

Hello!

This interaction happened during a playtest game and I'm not sure how it works. Wake the Dead says I need to sacrifice whatever creature it brings back during the next end step. If I reanimate Mikaeus, the Unhallowed and other creatures with Wake the Dead, and I use my sacrifice outlet that is already on the battlefield Altar of Dementia, am I allowed to keep those creatures? If I sacrifice them, allow them to come back thanks to Mikaeus, the Unhallowed's undying trigger, are they considered new permanents and aren't sacrificed to Wake the Dead? Or because they are still on the battlefield Wake the Dead still recognizes them even though they left.

Hope I explained this well enough.

Whatever creatures you brought back alongside Mikaeus, including Mikaeus himself, all have a delayed triggered ability on them that will trigger at the beginning of the next end step.

If those creatures leave play or change zones, they become new entities with no knowledge of previous existences. So the DTA's on those creatures that are then brought back again through undying will no longer exist, allowing you to keep those said creatures.

Thank you Raging_Squiggle!!

Also, DTA does mean delayed triggered ability correct?
