Treasure cruise vs Grafdigger's cage

Asked by unbendingsea 9 years ago

Me and my buddy are having an argument here and need some veteran magic players to hash this out.

If you play Treasure Cruise and use the delve effect you are not playing cards out of the graveyard, but only exiling cards as part of the casting cost to play cruise from your hand. If someone has a Grafdigger's Cage out, you can still exile cards from the graveyard since you are not playing them from the graveyard

Am I correct or am I wrong on this one.

Yes you can still delve if the Cage is in play. The Cage prevents you from casting stuff out of your grave yard like stuff with unearth or flashback.

Cards do what they say, no more and no less. Delving isn't putting something onto the battlefield from the graveyard, and it isn't casting a card from a graveyard. Grafdigger's Cage won't interfere with it.
