Staff of the X Magus vs multicolored lands

I thought I'd find an answer on this easily, but somehow it's more troublesome than I'd imagined. That, or it's a dumber question than I think it is, haha.

My question is, do the Staff of the X Magus (like my Staff of the Sun Magus or Staff of the Flame Magus ) abilities work on multicolored lands, or is literally just cards named Plains or mountains in addition to white/red spells?

Staff of the Flame Magus 's ability triggers for Mountain as well as any lands that have the basic land type Mountain, such as Madblind Mountain , Sacred Foundry , Steam Vents , and Taiga .

It doesn't trigger for cards like Temple of Malice because those lands don't have the BLT Mountain.
