Skirk Prospector and Goblin Grenade combo?

Asked by yinnyyxd 9 years ago

When blocking or attacking with Skirk Prospector , and the attack or block wasn't successful. Can I sacrifice him for the mana and use that mana to use Goblin Grenade ? If it doesn't work HOW can I do the combo?

You cannot use the same goblin to pay for 2 sacrifice effects. It would be like trying to tap a land for mana twice in a single turn.

For this to work you would block with him, sacrifice him for mana and have another goblin in play to sacrifice for the Grenade cost.

Note: EddCrawley is correct. I just wanted to add that you CAN use the mana that you get from sacrificing Skirk Prospector to cast Goblin Grenade , but as has been said above, you will need another goblin to pay for the Grenade's additional cost.

When a card is sacrificed it is immediately put in the graveyard, so you cant sac it twice unless you make it come back.

I just wanted to add that you would HAVE to be blocking for you to even use the mana for it. If you're attacking then the Goblin Grenade is a sorcery so you can't use it during the attack. When you switch phases that one red mana would empty from your mana pool. So in order for the combo to work at all you have to be blocking AND you need an additional goblin to sac for the Goblin Grenade (as stated above)

@gary1976us: That's not accurate. In fact, you can't be attacking nor blocking. You can only cast sorceries during main phases, and both attacking and blocking takes place during combat phase. I missed that part of the original question actually because I started focusing on the fact that you need another goblin for that.

@Absinthman I stand corrected, that's true, neither attacking or blocking would work, don't know what I was thinking lol.
