Silverfur Partisan

Asked by Grrvvpp23 8 years ago

If I resolve an effect like Atarka's Command +1/+1 having Silverfur Partisan and some werewolves, does it create that many 2/2 tokens or the spells that trigger it should have a direct target?

For Silverfur Partisan to trigger, a spell has to target a wolf/werewolf. To do that, it has to specifically say "target" on the card. In this scenario, you would get no tokens.

If you cast something like Lead by Example (anything that allows more than one target) targetting several of your wolfes/werewolfes, than you will get that many tokens.

Aight thanks, also cards like Moonlight Hunt with the keyword 'each' will also give wolfs?

No. Only "target" means target. "Each" is not "target."

No. Again, the word "target" has to be on the card (and in the chosen mode for modal cards like Atarka's Command) for the spell to target something. Blanket effects that affect several non-specified permanents ("Detroy ALL creatures", "EACH creature you control...", "WHITE creatures" and so on) don't target anything.

Question I do have about zada, silverfur combo ... target zada with Might of the Masses cause of silverfur wording when a wolf becomes target it puts out wolves... does the wolves tokens come out then the spell resolves.. meaning all wolves get the pump till end of turn

@dmaxskin: This question is two weeks old. In the future, please ask unrelated or late followup questions in new threads instead of replying to old ones.

Also, link all cards in your question.
Zada, Hedron Grinder

If you target Zada, Hedron Grinder with Might of the Masses, Zada, Hedron Grinder's ability will trigger. When the ability resolves, you'll copy Might of the Masses for each other creature you control that it could target.

If you also control a Silverfur Partisan, then each of those copies will trigger Silverfur Partisan's triggered ability. Those abilities will resolve before any of the copies do. Then, all of the Might of the Masses, including the original, will resolve. They'll count the number of creatures you control as they resolve, so you'll get extra buffs from your new tokens. Note, however, that the tokens won't get their own copies of Might of the Masses because they were created after Zada, Hedron Grinder's ability resolved.

One question, if we cast a werewolf/wolf creature spell, and our opponenent counters the spell with a sorcery/instant, does Silverfur Partisan's ability still trigger?

@ChrisKrow: In the future, please ask new questions in new threads rather than replying to old ones.

In Magic, when an effect references a permanent type or subtype (such as creature, Werewolf, etc.), it refers to a permanent of that type. A permanent is an object on the battlefield. When a card is on the stack, it's a spell. When it's in other zones, it's a "[type/subtype] card."

Silverfur Partisan's ability only triggers "when a Wolf or Werewolf you control becomes the target..." Because it doesn't reference Wolf or Werewolf spells, or Wolf or Werewolf cards, it refers only to Wolf or Werewolf permanents.

Also, it would be hard to counter something with a sorcery, as sorceries cannot be cast in response to anything (at least not without some other effect that allows you to do so).
