Rhys the Redeemed + Buffed Tokens?

Asked by IrishMidgetMan 6 years ago

So this is the situation: I have (5) 4/4 beast tokens on the field. They get buffed from multiple sources to have +30/+30 until the end of turn. I then activate Rhys the Redeemed's ability to copy my tokens.

Do I get (5) permanent 34/34 beasts this way or would the new tokens lose their buffs at the end of the turn as well?

You get 5 4/4 beast tokens.

706.2. When copying an object, the copy acquires the copiable values of theoriginal objectscharacteristicsand, for an object on the stack, choices made when casting or activating it (mode, targets, the value of X, whether it was kicked, how it will affect multiple targets, and so on). Thecopiable values are the values derived from the text printed on the object (that text being name, mana cost, color indicator, card type, subtype, supertype, rules text, power, toughness, and/orloyalty), as modified by other copy effects, by as . . . enters the battlefield and as . . . is turnedface up abilities that set characteristics, and by abilities that caused the object to be face down.Other effects (including type-changing and text-changing effects), status, and counters are notcopied.

To be clear, they enter as 4/4 beasts with no buffs, not with a buff that goes away at end of turn.

These comments are 100% correct, but if your interested in buffing your tokens try Cathars' Crusade in a rhys deck its a wincon if it cant be delt with quickly, and then with other rhys standards like Anointed Procession and Primal Vigor the game will quickly get out of control, and you really will have those 34/34 creatures your looking for
