Restricted Mana usage that survives the phase

Asked by -Orvos- 7 years ago

So i was playing around with my Totally Biased Mutual Destruction deck and ran into a situation where I had Omnath, Locus of Mana out and my Smokebraider. I used my Smokebraider to put into my mana pool which effectively beefed up my Omnath, Locus of Mana. My question is...

Does the restriction on how I can use the mana produced by Smokebraider survive the phase with the mana or is it still restricted and I have to keep track of it separately?

I believe the restriction on its use will still be there. See the example below.

Rule 106.6:Some spells or abilities that produce mana restrict how that mana can be spent, or have and additional effect that affects the spell or ability that mana is spent on. This doesn't affect the mana's type.

Example: A player's mana pool contains which can be spent only to pay cumulative upkeep costs. That player activates Doubling Cube's ability. The player's mana pool now has in it, of which can be spent on anything.
