Rashmi + Veyran + Melek

Asked by Pedrodamus 3 years ago

Can someone help me sort out how the triggers for a Three Visits (top of library) on the stack resolve with Melek, Izzet Paragon , Veyran, Voice of Duality , and Rashmi, Eternities Crafter out on the field?

And to add further complication, what if the card revealed off the Rashmi trigger is a Mystical Tutor ? I'm Currently playtesting my Pako and Haldan deck and this scenario just occurred. Like, I have a rough understanding of how I THINK this may play out, but the layering of the stack and how to resolve the triggers is throwing me for a bit of a loop.

You have 6 triggers happening simultaneously. 2 sets of each, and all stacked in whatever order you want.

The two triggers from Melek would create 2 copies of Three Visits , triggering magecraft four more times.

The two triggers (and then 4 more from above) from veyran would resolve giving em a nice buff.

Rashmi’s two triggers would happen. Casting Tutor triggers Melek and Veyran each 2 more times because revealing a card does not change zones.

In no particular order, Melek would resolve, copying Tutor twice, tutoring up a card to top of library, then immediately shuffling it away during the next tutor, and again for the original. Veyran would get another 4 triggers off the copies for more buff.

Then the second Rashmi trigger resolves. If you get another hit, you repeat the above paragraph for whatever the spell is. Otherwise you’d draw a card.

Then once all said and done, the original Visits resolves, shuffling away the final searched card via Tutor.

Overall, the end result is you get a nice land, a freshly shuffled library, and a Veyran getting +12/+12 (or +18/+18 if you got a hit on second Rashmi trigger).

Edit: final result would be 3 nice lands, not 1.

You cast Three Visits from the top of your library. As the first part of casting the Three Visits goes on the stack. As the last part of casting the all cast triggers trigger. Since a sorcery being cast is what triggered them all, they will trigger twice.

You receive priority and can put the four triggers you have on the stack in any order. All of them will be on top of Three Visits though. The top card of your library is revealed at all times, so you will know what your top card is when you put them on the stack.

for the sake of this example lets assume you put them on the stack Melek, Melek, Rashmi, Rashmi, Veyran, Veyran.

You allow the two Magecraft triggers to resolve putting counters on Veyran.

The first Rashmi trigger resolves casting Mystical Tutor . It is cast from the library triggering both Veyran and Melek twice. You put the Melek triggers on the stack and then the Veyran.

You allow the two Magecraft triggers to resolve putting counters on Veyran.

The top Mystical Tutor Melek trigger resolves. Creating a copy and triggering Veyran twice.

You allow the two Magecraft triggers to resolve putting counters on Veyran.

Depending on what you search for you may cast it triggering Melek twice and Veyran a total of 6 times (2 from cast, 2 from each of 2 copies).

The second Mystical Tutor Melek trigger resolves. Creating a copy and triggering Veyran twice.

You allow the two Magecraft triggers to resolve putting counters on Veyran.

Depending on what you search for you may cast it triggering Melek twice and Veyran a total of 6 times (2 from cast, 2 from each of 2 copies).

The Mystical Tutor resolves.

Depending on what you search for you may cast it triggering Melek twice and Veyran a total of 6 times (2 from cast, 2 from each of 2 copies).

The second Rashmi trigger resolves. This may lead into another flurry of copies and magecraft triggers depending on what the card is. The thing to keep in mind is that for each new object put on the stack if it was an instant or sorcery cast from the library you will get 2 Melek triggers, and if it was an instant, sorcery, or copy of an instant or sorcery you will put two magecraft triggers on the stack.

After the Rashmi triggers are taken care of you will resolve the top melek trigger giving you a three visits and two magecrat triggers.

After those three things resolve you will resolve the second Melek trigger giving you a three visits and two magecraft triggers.

After those three things resolve, the initial spell will resolve.

Note that Veyran doesn’t get counters, just a temporary +/1+1
